Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm sure every 40k player had this problem at one point: deciding what to put in your army. I'm still at the experimental part of my construction of my own Necron Army. If you wish to see my army list, here it is:
1x Necron lord (Warscythe and Res orb included!)
22x Necron Warriors (11 for each squad)
4x Necron Flayed Ones (planning on getting another pack soon)
6x Scarab Swarms
1x Necron Monolth
Unfortunately, I didn't get the box set which included the four Destroyers. I might not need them (I commonly fight Nid players), but that's not the point of this topic.
It's the Scarabs, I'm thinking about replacing them with Necron Wraiths. The real purpose I use Scarabs (and hoping that it will translate well with Wraiths as well) is to:
a) Backup my Flayed ones
b) temporary blockade for enemy movement
I'm well aware of the ups and downs of each squad, such as Swarms cost less and have more wounds thus can last a bit, but not very good at delivering wounds to the opposing force, Wraiths have an amazing Strength and Initiative but cost more and squads are not much (which can cause trouble with Will be backs if I don't have another Wraith that is up on the field to argue the WBB )
It's quite a dilemma, still kind of new to the game but have a good grasp on the rules.

You will need destroyers. Especially if you are playing against 'Nids. They have huge numbers (unless they're Nidzilla) and destroyers are really good at putting out mass amounts of fire. I wouldn't recommend wraiths because they don't have power weapons and they don't have multiple wounds so they will die very quickly. Sacarbs are both infantry killers (A) and tank-killers (. A. 40 Attacks on the charge w/ a full squad of 10. BTW, you should always run then in squads of 9-10 or they will die to quickly. B. W/ Disruption Fields, they get tons of attacks against vehicles. They normally glance tanks to death for me
