Welcome to Librarium Online!
Right I'm fed up of waiting for the new codex so I'm going into the loft to get my DE out and sort out a 2k force. I've been on my IG while I wait but cannot face modelling and painting another 100+ IG models at the moment. My theory is like that of washing the car makes it rain. If I get going on the army then the new codex will come out.Do you think this will work?
"The nature of Mon Keigh was irrepressible!"
Pretty sure I was fed up a few years ago.
Just kind of stopped hoping for it and I act as if it's not going to happen.
So, it didn't work for me.
Been waiting since 03' for this Codex. Blood Angels first though, BECAUSE THEY NEED A REWORK, AMIRITE?
LOL, this reminds me of an old adage:
Murphy's Law is recursive - washing a car in order to make it rain will also fail (that's just murphy's law).
As for getting your current DE out I wouldn't think it would be a bad thing as any practice with T3 S3 5+ armor save list would be useful. I would even start working on your color scheme if you are planing try a new color.
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
I still saw plenty of people starting a dark eldar army, there's no real reason to wait until the new codex, it's okay to start now and to add later on.
Most models will still be usable.
I don't get where people start fearing the army will be unusable. A better reason to want to wait is: to have new models only. Some want to have some of the old models, but everybody has his own taste, I prefer having models from all editions, I apply this to all my armies.
Just have to be patient, rumors say november, true or not we'll see, it's just a few months, not a big deal.
Yeah, Im personally going to keep all my Raiders; I love that model. I may update my Ravagers if the new model is cool enough and convert my old ones into Raiders (can you ever really have enough?). Though I fully expect to be getting some new Warrior and Wych models.
There's few enough choices in our army that I don't really see them dropping anything entirely. What I'm wary about is them restructuring the codex so units that are underused now suddenly become super powerful forcing all of us old players to buy buy buy, while the stuff we have lots of gets shelved. Or just introducing something totally new that does the same thing.
I mostly just hope they fix Mandrakes, Helions, and scourges without them overshadowing everything else. I'd honestly prefer more of an update to our codex than a whole rewrite, something as simple as giving Mandrakes a squad leader option, giving helions relentless another special weapon and maybe the option for Wyche weapons, and scourges some combination of the ability to drop their wings for a discount/cheaper weapons/the ability to take shredders and blasters.

The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
A re write is like a huge update which our codex needs. TAke the new dexes, they have huge sectiosn of fluff, which we really need, so many unclear and unanswered fluff questions. Don't start wishlisting please, it gets anoying for other players and for some dark eldar players as well, we know an update is urgent, but lets not whine about it in every thread, lets try to keep it at a minimum.
For my part I'm keeping all my old models, 20k pts wouldn't sell that well anyway, when you look at how much your 40k sells at, it's just not worth it.
I'll just add and add, the new models should have their own army on their own. I'm a big apoc fan, so it's all ok, you can expect me to go for 11 raiders, tons fo ravagers, same goes for new skimmers. I just hope I won't have to do too much conversion work on my old ( painted) models.
Take the reavers, rumors have been saying they'll be able to drags prisoners away with their chains, sadly not all my reavers have chains ><, it's still a minor conversion work. I bet that my HQs will need some wargear changes, that's just natural.
Not sure if this is old news or not, but stumbled across this thread of warseer; Dark Eldar released in november 2010
Either way things are looking up for us Dark Eldar players. Our patience rewarded. Our return shall be bloody and terrifying. Horror will be our companion, nightmares our shadow. All shall bow before us, the rightful rulers of the universe!
...Ok, got a bit carried away there. Bottom line is, the wait is soon over.
