So, every list I've seen has their Battlewagons with a Deff Rolla.
I mean, d6 S10 hits on anything... it's sick.
Is there any reason you would NOT want a Deff Rolla?
I ask because I have the parts assembled, but don't like the idea of gluing anything in place on my wagons... And it doesn't seem there is an easy way to keep the Rolla on without glue. Is this upgrade universal enough that I don't need to care?
If you want a shooty wagon don't take a deffrolla otherwise take one. Killkannon and deffrolla aren't synergetic because they require that you manage the wagon differently.
They cost extra points, which you may not have. They cost extra money to purchase the bit. You may not like the look of them on the model, or may want some variety in your battlewagons. If you think your battlewagon will be quickly destroyed, they are a waste of points because they'll never be used.
Generally they rock, but there are obvious reasons to hesitate with them.
First option: Magnets. Second option... I never glued mine and it fits fine. Its a little looser than the Gob-like ram, but not by much.
I agree that you shouldn't put a deffrolla on a battlewagon that has a lot of guns, but honestly, I can't see why you'd ever want a shooty wagon. Three killa kans or big gunz kannons will shoot a lot better than any battlewagon every could. The looted wagon w/boomgun also shoots better and is a lot more cost effective than a battlewagon covered in guns.
At most, I'd put a big shoota and kannon on a battlewagon, but no more, and I'd still put a deffrolla on it. It's just too effective to pass up.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
I agree that shooty wagons aren't great, however there are still times they're used and shouldn't be used in conjunction with a deffrolla. In friendly games it can be a lot of fun to field a battle wagon with a Killcannon a zzap gun and 4 big shootas, that way they can match their description as "Massive metal gunbeasts" and have your opponent look in disbelief as you shoot off your 6 guns.
I really liked the idea of the Dakka-wagon, but the GW model that puts the two guns on opposite sides of the tank depressed me.
Also, Jgroover, you can't shoot the Kill-kannon and the other guns, since it's Ordnance. D: It might be worth it if you could.
Oops, goes to show how much an ork player knows about ordnance weapons. And yeah, shooting 1 big gun and 3 big shootas a turn is so not worth it. Deffrolla all the way.
If you give a wagon 4 rokkits and a kannon it can unleash 5 marine- cracking shots per turn. Scary as hell for the opp. Just fill it with boys, drop them off, and open fire.
