Im kinda fascinated with this Farsight fellow, the one who rocks the dawn blade and a crisis suit, seems like a lotta points for a Tau model...

anybody play an 'outcast' tau army led by this guy>? seems kinda neat, mainly firewarriors. but i dont know if you could still be effective without gundrones, or kroot, and being very limited on your heavy sapport.

INPUT NEEDED. and damn, if anybody feels like talking WH40k, or Tau, Instant message me, this forums dead and i got some questions lol

    I like farsight (sometimes).

I used him to take out a full termie squad all by himself.

    The problems are:
    his somewhat high point cost
The units that he prevents you from taking.

I haven't used him in a while, because I love taking gun drone squads.

Personally, I wouldn't use Farsight with less than 1500 or more than 2000.

I play strictly a Farsight enclave. I like the challange.
We usually play an 1800 point army, so he fits in pretty good.

How does it play? pretty good? i would make a 1k force with him, except i think i would make it fire-warrior heavy since thats kinda the fluff with his enclave.

Like maybe drop the tank for a nice souped of fire warrior team, have broadsides, him and his bodyguard, 3 firewarrior teams, and some stealthies.

the only problem is, Ill be playing against nids like 90% of the time, so ill get my ass handed to me in melee regardless of the upgrade, so its prob not adventageous of me to make one. ill stick with having more firepower i guess

    Firewarrior Heavy.

As i see it most forces under 2000points should be.

The firewarrior is the base for a good tau army and personally i would not consider taking kroot or pathfinders until i got over 2000 points. A str5 ap5 rapid fire weapon costing 10 points should not be wasted imho.

I know this is a rather closed way to look at things but this is how i see the tau force. Dependant on Firewarriors.

No, i like it, i feel the same way. Im trying to mold a great 1k point army, and i think a farsight enclave would be a neat little army to field. But i wanna know that im not going to lose every battle before i go about trying to construct one lol. i need to know if the potential there, yah know? Hey damien do you have AIM? this would be a lot easier, i have a few things i need your help on

has anyone heard of crisis suits? the main thing in a farsight army is the fact that elite is unrestricted, so it wants you to be a suit heavy army. But don't fall into the trap of giving them all the ork fighter upgrade, because if you got that, you'd basically be paying upwards of 50pts for a single space marine with heavy weapons. and if you're in the dumps about losing your heavy weapons choices, just overcompinsate with crisis suits, they're mobel enough to not die, and the weapons are strong enough to take down the enemy army. I might be bias for suits  but that's probably because they are pretty good.

Hide your frailty in a body unseen.

I know what you're talking about meek, crisis suits are the second mainstay of a tau army, the first being firewarriors. But when you're looking at 1k or 1.5k lists, you can't field large amounts of them effectively without sacrificing railguns or cheaper stealth suits.

the only problem i have with the farsight rules is that you cant use gundrones, and like, for the devilfish, i use those gundrones to protect my warriors/tank from assault(i play against nids so its uber important). So im just trying to think how i could make up for that.
