Knowing NOW that the Talos IS a Monstrous Creature does that mean that a Talos would be able to take down a Monolith or because of it's "living metal" would it still be hitting on it's unaugmented strength eg. str 7 + d6 = 13 or is it possible to be able to add the +1 for each hit scored on the Monolith thanx.
Unfortunately monstrous creatures do not get their bonus to pen against Monoliths, rendering the Talos ineffective.
I can't be sure since I don't have a necron codex but i think living metal negates Talos claws and anything else that adds to penetration besides the 1d6 you normally get.
I'm sorry to say but no, faq, codex says the living metal rule doesn't allow MC or special talos attacks, any extra roll is nullyfied by the living metal rule. In other words: talos can't do anything against a monolith.
A talos is wonderful against a land raider, but crap against necron tech.
Another one i've bought up plenty of times and was able to bring to bear in GT to some of the marshalls. YES a Talos can take down a monolith as it does not roll 2d6 for armor penetration and its Talos Claw rule is not an extent as is ability as a monstrous creature I can certainly say yes it can take out a monolith treat it as you would say if you were hitting an armor 14 rhino.
They had to give us his otherwise it would take something like 8 glancing hits before all the weapons are destroyed and ultimately that would be the only way to kill it as nothing in our armory is over str:8
But the Talos shouldn't feel to bad about that. Just about everything else is crap against a Monolith too.
Luckily for us, Necrons have a major weakness right now (psst...assault the Warriors), and DE are (probably) getting an update before they do.

It is written in the faq and in the codex (which has several severions btw), that the talos claw doesn't give any bonus at all. If that's not enough to convince you I can't help it.
Trust me it makes me sad as a DE eplayer.
Wow. everyone tha works at my local stores and even the GT Game Marshall was wrong lol. Oh man their gonna freak when i tell them this.
Just a quick question, does anyone ever have problems playing against necrons with DE?
it seems I can smash marines, chaos marines, Daemons, Eldar, Inquisition basically anything that doesnt outnumber me but as soon as i go up against necrons which in my last battle i outnumbered them like 4 to 1 they gave me a really hard time
