Welcome to Librarium Online!
Are orks better than tyranids in CC. I played a friend and da boyz definately held their own against termagaunts, hormagaunts, and a lictor. We both found this quite surprisig. It might have been dice rolling, but it wasn't too heavily favored. Wat do you think? Are our boyz underestimated against the bugs?
I've faced tyranids and the only thing they have that beats the orks is the hivetyrant. Everything else the boyz can take wit no problems! Plus orks are faster and way shootier then the nids so i think we have the upper hand. Just make sure to have a nob "best with a powerclaw" in each mob to take care of the big bugs. Also watch out for thier biovores they are good artiliery things, and don't underestimate the spore mine's ability to take out boyz. Just keep the guys nice and spread out, and when you don't have a better target to shoot at kill the mines.
What is dis signature nonsence?! dem stupid human zoggers are always trien to confuze us.
orks can take out 'the bulk'(guants) anyday....its the raveners, hive tyrants, carnifex's and zoanathropes you gotta kill first....
but you cant compare the 2 on a few battles you've had against some people......

How can you say that nids suck? They are awesome! A hivetyrant can go to-to-toe with your warboss and wipe it out! I've done this to my friend 5 times! Nids are better at cc, and I don't know any nid player who uses termagaunts anymore, so the guy you played against probably isn't too good anyways.I've faced tyranids and the only thing they have that beats the orks is the hivetyrant.Faster? I don't think so! Our hormagaunts can go 24" if within assaulting range! We may not have a transport, but other nids can go just as fast as a hormaguant such as a warrior with leaping. A hive tyrant with wings can also go 18"! That's pretty good for a montrous creature! Although orks are better at shooting, so is everyone else so it doesn't matter to nids if you load up on guns! (well, to a point)Plus orks are faster and way shootier then the nids so i think we have the upper handI don't think that a nob can take on a montrous creature in cc!Just make sure to have a nob "best with a powerclaw" in each mob to take care of the big bugs
Overall the orks are a recpectable army (Y) , but they don't hold up against nids in cc!
I admit that Nids should be the best in CC and also my friend and I just started playing 40K (barely have our models together not to mention painted). So I understand that no one uses termagaunts anymore, but that's all we've got for now. It seems that making all those biomorph conversions takes an exceptionally long time, so he's just going with the termagaunts, hormagaunts and regular warriors for now.
Don't underestimate orks in CC though. They are the second best army, perhaps. True they can't assault as far as tyranids and they don't have rending claws nor do they attack first very often, but they can take a beating, hit you back and stick around. It amazes me every time da boyz are sitting in CC and I figure they are probably dead soon. But somehow I start counting up those rolls (two attacks apiece plus extra weapons plus a nob) and suddenly my four or five boyz have like 15 attacks. Not bad for 9 points a model.
Anyway, I have yet to face a Carnifex or Hive Tyrant or any those big buggas under the new rules (used to play back in the day of 1st edition of 40K). I expect (gulp) they will cause quite a lot of problems for me. But that's what makes this game so exciting.
The orks are the second best cc army in the game although some might say deamonhunters are good too. I never underestimate orks, especcially the ones with flamers! <_<Don't underestimate orks in CC though. They are the second best army, perhaps. That's fine, but the gaunts sprues have spinefists in them. They are the ones that look like hands, all you have to do is take off the fleshborers and put on the spine fists. So I understand that no one uses termagaunts anymore, but that's all we've got for nowAll you have to do is surround them with boys and they'll come down eventually. never use your warboss by himself! Or you could just shoot the TMC first.Anyway, I have yet to face a Carnifex or Hive Tyrant or any those big buggas under the new rules (used to play back in the day of 1st edition of 40K). Sorry if I sounded a bit mean on my last post!
I played a very funny game against Tyranids last week. My 60 grotz slaugthered all of his army except for the "Old One" who had a crazy T.
Seeing Grotz killing Hive Tyrant Bodyguards in HtH was really hilarious.
if your grotz didn't kill OOE cause of his thoughness then they shouldn't have been able to wounds the Yrant Guard and the HT as they have the same Thoughness, also remember that everything with a S of 4 or higher does an instantkill effect on the grotz
My hive tyrant and 2 guards once killed around 20 boys and 1 warboss in 2 turns without getting any wounds back! mainly because of warpblast!
Orks have numbers to beat tyranids, if you don't pay too much heed to the need for anti-tank. Myself, I've only seen one Ork vs. Tyranid battle personally, and it was the usual Ork mob versus a shooty tyranid army.... the shooty tyranid army won.
