Welcome to Librarium Online!
A warhammer club is just starting in my local area and the first night is 1 HQ and 2 troops. As far as I can tell then their is no points limit.
Obviously I am playing orks so I was thinking how to make the best army with only these restrictions.
this is the army I was thinking of taking.
Mad dok grotsnik
30 boyz cyborg bodies and pk nob
30 boyz cyborg bodies and PK nob
that totals about 850 points which is more than most armies can get with that FOC.
basic tactics are that mad dok grotsnik joins one unit , gives it feel no pain and charges woth the other unit.
Any feedback appreciated
if there are no restricions, why stop there
BP, stickbombs. UPGARDES UPGRADES UPGRADES
One group can be 'ard boyz
the other grop however
Personally I would do a fully tooled warboss, or ghazskull. Due to this Nobs or Meganobz become troops. Take the biggest amount you can and take a battle wagons as a transport with a deffrolla, grot riggers, armour plates, grabba claw, 4 rokkitz, kannons and everything else. DEATHSTAR!
honestly, if there is no points limit, why limit yourself

Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
If they see you roll up with Tossy's list I guarantee they will start placing a points limit because you will dominate all other armies. I think orks are the only army that can dump that many points into the mandatory choices.
And if they don't well, by all means go for Ghazskul. He's dead stompy!
Also Ghazskul only makes *1 nob or maganobz mob a troop choice* so other the troop choice can be 'ard boys.
Maybe you could call and see if there are any restrictions? If not I mean it's up to you. Personally I'd stick to the pretty basics as most people here have said, Orks are really one of the few armies that there core FOC can be so deadly and costly!
Personally I would take two lists, one where you max out your 3 choices and have as much as you can put in them. And another that's a bit more relaxed and a bit more fun for everyone. Because if the club is just starting up, do you really want to be known as ..... "that guy," that just plays to competitive. But to each his own haha good luck!
It's really difficult to compete with orks in low point games. Our cheapest units pack an insane amount of punch. I mean just look at AOBR. 585 points of SM =
1 dread, 1 captain, 10 SM's, 5 terminators.
The same equivalent # of points on the ork side is absurd. It's something akin to 60 boyz, 2 nobz pk/bp, decked out warboss. Even if they wipe out half your army, they are still going to be wiped off the board.
It's no wonder the AOBR set only comes with about 450 points of orks....otherwise the SM side would get decimated everytime.
I just mention this, because my friends and I started out at 585 points per side. The orks won every time. Necron, Tau, Eldar, BA, SM...only thing that came close was nids. We since bumped the points up to 750...just so the other sides could take something useful .
with nob bikers all with PK's and every upgrade plus the other stuff you could easily get 1.5K lol
Tau: 6K - W17-D3-L4, Orks: 4K - W9-D0-L2, SM: 7K - W7-D3-L4,CSM: 4K W5-D1-L1, Nids: 3.2K W3-D0-L2
Apoc games (mixture of armies used): W5-D0-L1
If you want to make friends, then use your original list, with perhaps some bosspoles, rokkits, and 'ard boyz armor.
If you only want to win, then play this version of Tossy's list:
30 ard slugga boyz w/3 rokkits, nob, powerklaw, bosspole (Ghaz goes here)
10 Nob bikers w/ (all cybork)
1. painboy, grot orderlies
2. powerklaw, waaaugh banner
3. powerklaw, bosspole
4. powerklaw, combi-skorcha
5. powerklaw, combi-skorcha, ammo runt
8. combi-skorcha, ammo runt
9. big choppa
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
