Ok, everyone gets one post to tell me and everyone reading this your favorite tactic. Nid's are slightly limited in their strategy but I've seen people do a lot of different things with the similar concept in mind(tying your opponent in CC). So here's mine: I like to mass with spines gaunts (64 of them, two broods of 32) and have a squad of powered gaunts. AG I or WS depending on my opponent and TS. I feild 24 of these to get my opponent in CC and keep him there for my 3 squads of 6 genestealers to get in there. The Genestealer squads are split to fill the chart and to keep them from getting mass killed. The Spinegaunts are sent to hard-hitting low attack troops with high armor saves(terminators, C'tan, Wraithlords, Incubi, Necron lords, etc..) to either make them mass take saves or to keep them from dealing their points in damage. Off of my Tyrant or Carni for instance. My Carnifex is set up infront of my Biovores to block LOS to them and there is a thrope behind them to give synapse. My Carnifex is dual equiped with venom cannons to make it ranged seeing as it's stationary to guard to 'Vores. It has two or three Tyrant guard defending it. (depending on my points) I have two winged Hive tyrants flying towards the enemy to inflict mass Carnage. They aren't usually decked out with BS and WB or Psychic Scream but if my points allow I do. Then I just take whatever else usually a squad of 6 CC leaping warriors for Synapse. Anyways. That's my tactic let's see your's!
Umm, actually, that's your strategy. Tactics are much smaller, such as placement of mutants within broods, number of models in broods and things of that nature, while strategy is how all the various tactics are combined into an overall scheme and implemented. Essentially, strategy is how one sets goals, while tactics are how one achieves goals.
Anyway, one of my favorite tactics is the use of the amazing devogaunt (base plus devourer). Massed devourer fire can do some pretty wonky things. I especially love going against players who have teched out against tyranids with all kinds of close-combat upgrades. You can almost see the anticipation turn to desperation when a squad of gaunts runs up, unloads sixty-four shots and then doesn't charge. Does he actually charge tyranids with his badly damaged squad (if they aren't falling back)? Does he try to get the squad out of there and kill the squad at range? I love it, because people are used to not getting a shot off at gaunts, so they usually take a lot of close-combat stuff and a few big guns to try to take out t.m.c.s. Shooty gaunts are what they least expect.
thank you and good night
MY fav tactic is to deep strike if its aloud, winged HT , Gargoyles and Winged hormies but i also use the mass gaunts as well with the bio-v at the back but i ever protect them
If it lives it will be consumed
over run them theres my tactic if i do have DS i send flanking units
And when he gets to heaven,
to Saint Peter he will tell.
"One more soldier reporting,sir
I've served my time in hell."

me i drop im and crush im seeding swarm wif 2 carnis and 36 ferocious stealers
plus 1 ht and as many spines as i can get my hands on lol
It all depends on who Im facing... but basically
Winged HT swoops in assaults something I dont want shooting and has a real hard time figthting back me in cc, say an ordinary squad of marines or heavy weapons team guys, warp blasting tanks along the way.
Leaping gaunts and then standard gaunts swamp pretty much everything genestealers then stray into combat from their hiding places along with lictors.
Biovores release their payloads on standard troops or zoanthorpes emerge simultaneously with each other and scary TMCs/units and warp blast elite tough opponents and vehicles
You know the basic stradegy, the simple plans never fail! ^_^
Anyway a good favourite tactic of mine is too charge no matter the odds, as its usually better to charge than to be charged yourself!
Like the time my zoanthorpe charged a full necron squad beat them in H2H they failed their test then ran off the board.... Go Zoanthorpes! On a side note the zoanthorpe then went on to blow himsef/herself/itself up

2 hive tyrants with warp blast and dual scything talons side by side up the right or left flank, spinegaunts and hormagaunts in the center, carnifex trailling behind gaunts while it shields my thropes, and genestealers and old one eye at the flank opposite the tyrants. The huge swarm in the middle will soak up lots of fire, and if they die, then my opponents will shoot at the hive tyrants. While that happens my genestealers and ooe pour through my enemies lines, and there will almost always be at least one tyrant surviving to reach the enemy in cc.
EDIT: I almost forgot my warriors supporting the gaunts!
You call those cheap implants boobs?
They aren't boobs, they're lies!
i wanna use massive gaunt swarms backed by MCs and zoanthropes and biovores. do you think this is good? i also wanna use genestealers.
It won't - Won't break me
It won't - Defeat me
We will - Will break you
We will - Defeat you
