Welcome to Librarium Online!
I know back in the day I used to run about 6 10 man 2 DL Warrior squads with no Sybarite upgrade. That is not legal any more so I was wondering what is going to be the most effective way to kit out both a Raider mounted Warrior squad and an objective sitting Warrior squad.
League Stats: Orks 4W-1L-1T, CSM 4W-2L-0T, Dark Eldar 10W-6L-4T, Tau 3W-1L-1T, Blood Angels 4W-1L-1T, Imperial Guard 2W-1L-0T
Tourney Stats: Blood Angels 6W-0L-0T, Dark Eldar 2W-1L-0T
To be honest, the 10 man, 1 Dark Lance + 2 Blaster (if thats legal) will be a nice objective sitter. For the old school DE, they will probably avoid it as they are use to getting the 2 Dark Lances, however it will work better in a way, as they are less of a threat, so better at sitting un-molested.
I think the cheap scoring unit is
5 Warriors, Shredder, Venom/Raider
The slightly more function version would be
10 warriors, Splinter cannon, blaster, Syb with agoniser, raider
But with Web way armies, a 20 man squad could be possible.
20 Warriors, 2x Splinter Cannons, 2x Blasters, Sybarite with Agoniser
Attach 2x Cheap haemy with Agoniser
And you have 38 Str 4 Attacks + 12 agoniser attacks on the charge, and with FnP you are quite resilient. Admittedly, for 400 points you could spend your money better =p, but in a WWP ~15 + 1 haemy may be a practical option so you get FnP off the bat.
I think the one I think is best is 10 warriors, Splinter Cannon, Shredder, Syb with agoniser and a raider. Raider with dark lance and assorted goodies. Probably most likely would be the 5++ save one. I like that one because it is the cheapest and works well against infantry. You dont really want your warriors to be anti tank as you have great goodies like ravagers and so on.
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.”
True, but a different approach could be to go all close range anti-tank combined with some long range anti-infantry (Ravager with dissis, razorwings, voidraven with mono)
I think if you're looking for objective sitters we're probably better off with Wracks than Warriors. T4, FnP, and no shooting weapons, means they can go to ground freely so even a small squad of 5 can take an average of 18 wounds (before 3+ cover and FnP) before they drop below 50%
The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
10 warriors, splintercannon, blaster in a raider.
The warriors themselves are a little over 100 points and will deal with most threats going.
You never bother with sybarites with any gear ever, unless you really must have a non combat unit in combat (a naked syb for LD9 is fine and a blast pistol wouldn't go a miss).
While its true wracks are great objective campers, using them to the exclusion of warriors is a terrible idea, you give up on the frankly astounding firepower warriors pump out for their cost. A wrack + warrior combo however is going to be amazing.

Problem with wracks sitting on objectives is simply thats all they do. They do not provide any sort of fire support while sitting there. a warrior squad can still do something.
I see wracks as being useful for there flamers. Flat out in a raider near some pesky heavy weapon squads, hope enough wracks survive until the next turn to get out and flame, with some hopefully AP penetrating flamers the crap out of them =p.
I think I'll stick with 10 Warriors with Splinter Cannon, Shredder, and Raider, at least at 1000 points. I'll give up the extra Splinter Rifle shot at over 12" for the blast and a chance to wound at better than 4+ when something gets close. Vehicles and Reavers can give me my anti tank at that level, though I might need some Trueborn at higher levels.

In my 10 or so playtest games (admittedly all with the same list, I lack the models to test the armiis I really want even with proxies) the splintercannon has never let me down - it proved particularly useful against MSU marine units as it consistently put wounds on them which forced the sm player to react to the threat while my heavier units got into position to deliver the killing blow.
A trueborn squad 6 strong with 2 cannon (plus a venom merely because a venom makes a nice gunboat) in cover will be a nice unit to anchor a warrior firebase around - plus duke sliscus could really help those 2 splintercannon deal damage.
10 warriors with a single dark lance is still a decently priced unit but i'd take no more than 2 simply because they won't give the return investment if you start spamming them, but some long range infantry based anti tank (that doesn't eat up thoe precious elite slots) is never a bad idea and at 115 points a unit cheap enough to take them and still have enough points for an army.
