Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm not surenon which troop to choose. I want to use stealers because they have a great WS. I want to use hormagaunts because they are cheaper. Which do you prefer and why?
Stealers. Against the lists I normally face, outflank is too important to pass up. I normally run one group of Hormagaunts using Hive Commander's outflank ability, then fill up on Genestealers.
I use one of each. Genestealsers are more effective however they cost more. I've always had a special spot in my heart for my squad of Hormoguants. My brood of 30 is beautiful thing to see when it gets that second turn charge still at over half strength.
But seriously, take one of each. They do the same thing in different ways and it only makes a head ache for your opponent.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
i agree with the above posts. However if forced to decide i'd take stealers. yes they're more then twice the price but all their added goodness means they can fly solo in smaller numbers to greater affect. They need no biomorphs, no synapse, and no back up. the hormogaunts set up the genestealer assault.
I Genestealers the most. I still like Hormagaunts and I find them useful but I find the Genestealers are better. They are way nastier in combat and are a threat to tanks. They also have more options for upgrades and they can have a Broodlord. They can also do things like outflank which increases their flexibilty. I think because of that the Genestealer is better because they can support more elaborate schemes if we need them too and they can also pop tanks and independent characters etc.
I think also the model is better which is also important alongside how good they are on the tabletop. They have four arms which makes them fun to pose and they have the choice of scything talons and come with some special head variants which increases what can be done with them. They are also more detailed with a greater variety of poses which makes them more fun to put together, paint and display once they are done.
You can't really compare the two units, they have completely different purposes. Both of the units are good, but which one you choose depends completely on what the rest of your army looks like.
We really have no way to make any suggestions unless we know what the rest of your army is.
Well if you look at my newest army list, you can make some suggestions.
