Welcome to Librarium Online!
It's been bothering me for ages.
They happen to be somewhat adapt at firing guns, even though they're not carrying any. They obviously have had some fun at the hive fleet firing ranges.
So can you actually shoot with them when your playing a game?
Otherwise they know how to shoot but don't have anything to shoot with - like lightning claw terminators.
Skill? Yes. Guns? No.
Some people play with terrain structures that have guns attached to them (i.e. a bunker that has two twin linked heavy bolters mounted on the top of it) and units that are inside said terrain piece may fire the attached weapons.
The thing that makes this worse, is that Genestealers have BS 0 and can't shoot them while gaunts have BS 3 and can. That just isn't right.
Because they're Termagants with scything talons. The Termagant genus has BS3 thus everything made off of that template be it Termagant, Hormagaunt, Gargoyle, or something else will have BS3.

^^ bingo. not everything has an in game effect but is added simply for a sense of completion to stick with the fluff.
like Old One Eye having that carnifex special rule, that won't get used because of his crushing claws. that's another one people were up in arms over and it seemed like a totally mundane thing to be upset about
