Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of these and want to use them in a forthcoming game, however there are no rules for them yet.
My predictions for the rules are:
Fast Attack (Fast Skimmer)
BS 3, FA 11, SA 11, RA 10 armed with 2 x Pulse lasers (the instructions call them bright lances, but I've compared them to a Falcon and they are defo pulse lasers).
Allowed to shoot both weapons and move 12" - this precedent has now been set with the new Dark Eldar codex
I don't seem the weapons as twin linked as a I don't think it would be a very viable choice to have 2 S8 twin linked shots - who would bother? Then again the chances of hitting are much the same as 4 S8 shots not twin linked at BS3
I wouldn't bet the mortgage on it, but I think that is pretty close to how it'll turn out: better than a vyper, but not as good as tank.
Points wise I reckon about 100pts. It's got to be more than vyper, but less than a Falcon as although it has potentially better weapons, it's more fragile and has no transport capacity.
I suspect it'll be allowed holofields and spirit stones for the normal pts cost.
Any comments or feedback?
Eldar Hornet? Linky? Can't find much about it
if these are going to be fast attack..... i would take 3 of these every time, even at 1000 pts, 12 str 8 shots a turn!!!
cant wait to see if you are even close to being right...
when do you think this will come out? the look of it can be slightly improved but i like the rules basis for it.
It has Pulse Lasers? Sweeet.. I Looked through the codex and haven't seen any unit with pulse lasers.. wtf? whats up with that? Is this the only unit which will have Pulse Lasers? Or maybe that reavener titan or something
The Falcon has a pulse laser. I always forget about it in games XD
It should be due out before christmas, I'm surprised it isn't already available for pre-order.
But what do you think about my 'experimental' rules? Sound plausible?
@riman - easy tiger, I am only proposing 4 x S8 shots, but it may only be 2 x S8 shots twin linked. It maybe that they'll run in squadrons of 3 but this is all pure speculation on my part.
I'd say it wouldn't be twinlinked.
Firstly everyone knows that more shots at lower accuracy are better (consider the squad may get a guide cast on it) due to the opportunity of say.. 6 shots per squadron rather than just 3 twinlinked shots.
Also I suspect something like F11/S10/R10 BS3, possibly holofields or some variant of the DEldar flickerfield.
Things to note; no undercarriage weapon. Probably no other weapons options (though something like vibrocannons or D-cannons would be AWESOME and add versatility and they'd probably need to be "counts as a single twinlinked weapon").
Also I think 80pts base before weapons would be more appropriate than yet ANOTHER overpriced vehicle. Standard loadout could be the vibro cannons or even something like Reaper Tempest launchers just to give some variety.
It's not a matter really of what the army might use as it is what the army needs. What the army needs is multi-shot anti-tank. 2 S8 hits per vehicle in a squadron is good. Once you go beyond that though, they lose most of their versatility. So it makes sense that any potential weapon alternatives would be mid-strength AP3 weaponry preferably with barrage characteristics.
Until the full ruleset is given it's all just navelgazing but a man can dream. I'm more worried about those phantom-dudes. Very clearly they're a 6th edition unit, they simply will have no place in 5th edition and I suspect they will potentially take the Dark Reapers place.
