Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm wanting to convert my warbikers but didn't know if I should convert them into DeffKoptas instead so what do you guys think is better Deffkoptas or Warbikers.
You can actually purchase 6 deff choppta's for less then 3 warbikers on ebay. I'd just get yourself some deff chopta's instead of modifying your warbikers.
Most people mod the deff chopta's because they are significantly cheaper then the bikers!
ORK DEFFKOPTAS X3 BLACK REACH WARHAMMER 40K - eBay (item 290487204996 end time Nov-11-10 16:41:17 PST)
On average, 3 deff chopta's are 10 dollars shipped on ebay. Though if you don't want to buy it now, you can get them for half that, but it will take a few auctions before you get it.
I saw 9 of them sell for about 20 the other week! (shipped)
I've already got the warbikers and for me its cheaper to buy 3 bikers from GW then to buy 4 Koptas of ebay, plus I get more bits for other conversions and bikes are easier to convert. So it comes back to my original question which is better Deffkoptas or Bikers rule wise or which do you want to see a conversion of.
Anyway you can share how to get 3 warbikers for less then 10 dollars shipped?
And they are totally different units. Deffchopta's are more outflanking/scout anti tank, while warbikers are more harassment infantry obliteratators (also decent anti tank, but much less so then deff chopta's).
Chopta's also have 2W's vs the warbikers 1.
I generally use deff chopta's to scout move prior to turn 1 right in front of the enemy. If I get to go first, I'll usually wipe out a tank or disable some vehicles with their TL rockit's and buzz saws. I run 3 in most lists (1 per fast slot).
Their LD is horrible, so either run them in a group of 5, or individually.

It's about £4 for me to buy a Kopta off ebay including P&P, so I rather buy a box of bikers without having to wait for them to be delivered and get plenty of extra bits for other conversions.
If it's down to which is more "orky" then I'd go with warbikes every time. If orks were meant to fly gork n mork would've given them wings....
I got mine for this
thats 6 of them unpainted for £7.50 (10.50 with postage) so not they dont cost £4 each. they will if your to lazy and just go for the buy now.
I know i got a good deal but then most of my army is from good deals as i'm happy to lose items if they go above what im willing to pay.
Bikes are so much better
Deffkopters seem more like a first turn trick which fill up empty FA slots

I personally prefer deffcoptas over warbikers. They have enough speed and flexibility to allow them to take out or hinder enemy threats early on in the game.
the enemy sets up and artillery unit on his edge of the table. If this artillery piece is able to fire it will inflict alot of casualties on your advancing boyz. but with a deffcopta or two armed with buzzsaws you can make a scout move and probably be able to fire at and engage in close combat with the artillery piece. your deffcoptas should be enough to stun it for a turn or maybe even destroy its gun or wreck it result. either way it will take a bit of fire off your main force. plus now the enemy is probably going to waste a bunch of shots on the deffcoptas to get rid of them. because of their 4 plus cover save the coptas will probably get at least a squad or two firing at them. your horde now longer has to take those shots and moves up even less hindered.
Deffcoptas basically allow you to mess up your opponents plans and distract them.
But whether you should take warbikers or deffcoptas depends on what you are looking for. If you want a unit that will fight the brunt of a battle for you warbikers are better than deffcoptas. If you want a supportive unit that helps take out threats that your main force can't immediately take out deffcoptas are better.
Bikers are extremely versatile. Their mobility and survivability are great. They can add some serious dakka and work well when coordinated with other shooting from lootas, shoota boyz, etc. They can take a PK nob and thus become a threat to vehicles, MC's, and elite units. They can be used to run down enemy shooting units. They can jump in and help with assaults, although charging them in alone without support can be bad due to their low numbers; much better as a support assault unit.
Koptas are cheaper and are generally used as tankhunters. They can get around the flanks/rears of vehicles and pound on them. Buzzsaws can add a kick and some versatility, but get expensive quickly. I see them as more of a throwaway unit to rough up the biggest armored threats early on. I have less experience with them than warbikers, but they could have some other uses too like tying up shooty enemies in combat.
As mentioned, they're two very different units. Depending on your style of play, army composition, what models you like best, etc., make your choice. Or get both.
