Hey guys, I'm an Ork player but I want to explore the Eldar I feel like they are the exact opposite of the Orks, so I hope they will give me a different game feel and perspective.
Now, I do actually have some Eldars. Some time ago, before I began with my Orks, I did actually plan to start with them, so I bough Farseer Eldrar Ulthran and a pack of Dire Avengers. From what I've gathered reading this forum, that's not a bad start. However, my question is, If I'm going to field around a 1000 point army, what should I get to boost this core? I've considered buying the Battleforce, but the general concensus seems to be that guardians aren't as good as the other units, so I'm thinking it might be a waste.
Any thoughts? Thanks
Your going to want at least a couple of waveserpents to get your troops around and another squad of Dire avengers to complete your troops quota. If you do decide to get some Guardians I recommend getting Storm Guardians, they are a bit price to buy the arms for but I suppose since you collect orks you should have a variety of CC weapons that you could use and save some cash.
Eldrad ulthran is a good HQ no doubt but maybe a bit pricy for the point level your talking about but nothings stopping you using him as a regular Farseer.
In the 1000pt region Wraithlords are effective, if not a little slow compared to the rest of the army, so if you want a fast moving army Id suggest a Fire Prism or two for Heavy support and possibly a Night Spinner. The Night Spinner isnt in the codex but you can find the rules for it easy enough if you wanted to try it out. I'll even send you a link if you have difficulty finding it.
After that I'm afraid youll need to collect units that fit into the style of force you want to field. All our elite squads are specialised so you need to pick which one will serve you the best as you can't have everything, especially in this point range.
Your best bet is online. If you try to buy all of the tanks from GW it will cost a TON.
Next try to purchase some fire dragons or if you have the dough two fire prisms. They will scare the hell out of your opponent at 1000 points.
My final suggestion is to before you buy your stuff post what you think your list will look like on the Eldar List Building portion of this site. People can give you guidance to what a good list will look like and you can base your purchasing selection on that, If you already haven't already posted a list.
