haemonculous or haemonculous ancient
i was looking over some of the lists (1500pts-2000pts) i have made recently and i was wandering if they could have benefitted from stronger HQ choices. so any advice on this subject would be greatfully apreciated.
p.s. my first post was an accident but i'm not sure how to delete it.
huge fan of 3 haemonculies. keep em cheap and the feel no pain will save your squad time and time again.
I like adding venom blades to Haemonculi. 5 points for such versatility. Good thing about Haemonculi is that if you ever have 5-15 points left over in your list then there is always a plethora of items to use your points on.

Archon. Can't go wrong with that guy!
At 1500 the archon is the best choice for your combat HQ (of which DE should nearly always have).
Over 1500 points your combat HQ needs get complicated as while people like drazhar and vect are walking murder machines, they still require support which means having units like incubi (in drazhar's case) or those that can actually support them.
Personally i'd buy drazhar as I really like him, but its a toss-up between him and vect.
I have Lelith Hesperax and an Archon in my 2000 point list. Archon hangs out with some Incubi in a Raider, gets as close as possible to the enemy lines and drops a webway portal. Lelith (when she decides to arrive) then proceeds to jump out the portal and stab something in the face. Lelith has managed to wipe out 4 squads of Chaos/Space Marines single handedly in the various games I have played so far. I need a bit more practice using my Archon after he's dropped the portal though, he has a tendency to die.
I put down Sliscus for my main option, but I'd also consider toying around with a regular Archon for more killy power. And regardless of my "main" or killy HQ, I'll also definitely be including some Haemy's for extra firepower and pain tokens.
Plus at the end of the day they do different things - vect is primarily a HQ/MC slayer who is almost beyond compare, drazhar is there to chew through mass blocks of infantry. Since I would always have an agoniser archon in my army drazhar compliments the archon well.
Vect also allows for the taking of what is essentially a fourth heavy support choice...although now that I've used the razorwing I really don't think I'll be seeing much use out of ravagers anytime soon....that fighter is seriously disgusting.
