Hello fellow archons.
What do you think of this tactic?
With the Shock Prow upgrade + Aethersails we can zoom all over the place, tank shock half the opposing army and even ram a Landraider to death. Especially stuff that is immune against our lances like the new LR achilles that some people are so afraid of or necron monolith or what ever else there might be.
In a perfect world you could deliver some nasty S10 hits with this tactic. This would be quite expensive .. but one or two such supped up Raider in your force can be a nasty surprise for the opponent. As a crew I would recommend a small sniper squat, just leave it home or deliver it some nice place first round and than start shocking and ramming
By adding a flicker field and slave snares you could also dish out some damage to troops while shocking and maybe survive the impact into the big bad target.
By the way: the shock prow ups the chances of surviving a ramming attempt, right? As I read it, the prow not only lets you do more damage, but also lets you count the front armor higher for the return bump.

the fliker feild and shock prow aint a bad idea, however with the new faq about ramming flat out its going to be more difficult to perform still i could see the sense in putting some guys in portals and using empty raiders for tank hunting/ tankshock!
I beleive we should put shock prows on all raiders/ravagers so that we can tank shock into objectives, contesting or making the enemy run off of them.
This is very risky as your raider will probobly be hit back with S9 or 10, and it is open topped, just look at a raider and look at a land raider or monolith and ask yourself "is this really a good idea?" If the answer is "Yes" you may want to check out the codex of our greenskinned friends :p
Sometimes though the risk is worth it, like if the land raider is contesting your objective on the bottom of turn 7 and you dont want to take any chances of blasters/darklances missing the shot.

Shock prow plus flicker field divided by land raider/monolith = hilarity.
I am going to try it out when I get the chace as it could lead to some seriously insane moves that can really upset a game.
The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
You know the best bit about the shock prow? It is totally illegal! The latest rulebook FAQ (went up a week or so ago) stops it.
Q: Must a vehicle be able to perform a tank shock in order
to perform a ramming attack? (p69)
Since a raider cannot tank shock, it therefore cannot ram making the prow useless.
Here is the FAQ if anyone wishes to look for themselves.
"To represent this a vehicle with a shock prow can Tank Shock enemy units." DE codex p.63
The FAQ mentioned above says (see bottom of page 4)
Q: Must a vehicle be able to perform a tank shock in order to perform a ramming attack? (p69)
Then at the top of page 5
Q: Does a vehicle upgrade that allows a non-tank vehicle to perform a tank shock (e.g. a reinforced ram) also allow that vehicle to perform ramming attacks? (p69)
