The deathgaunt and nightgaunt names are just examples to show a player giving names to species he's created. There aren't official names for any of the specific combinations (other than hormagaunt and termagant), but there are a few commonly used names among fans. A spinegaunt just has spinefists. A scythegaunt just has scything talons. I'm pushing for "devogaunt" for gaunts with devourers, but I seem to be the only one who uses them. Anyway, there have been several threads about gaunt names before, so try searching for them.

thank you and good night

I'd be inclined to think of a DEVOgaunt as having lash whips.

(Get it?... DEVO?... Whip it?...)

Scorching, that was so bad it hurt.

Brother Captain, some of the names came from GW themselves. In the back of the 'nid codex, where they were giving examples of different mutations, they named them.

Hurt? Everyone knows 'Nids don't feel pain.

Brother Captain Shadow Dragon, essentially... Yes.

However, bear in mind that the following are set by GW:

Hormagaunts
Termagaunts

If You change stuff in any way, say You make a Leaping Gaunt with ScyTal and AdrG I, You should not call it a Hormagaunt... Because it's not.

Also, there is one Gaunt type which is so commonly used and referred to that it has become a de-facto Gaunt type: The Spinegaunt (Gaunt + Spinefist).

Other than these, I'd say go ahead and come up with a name. (Y)

That said dont come up with some name and expect everyone to know what gaunt your talking about most gaunt names are the weapon it is armed with and gaunt (ie Uzi's spine gaunt example or the scythe gaunt)

My gaunts are very un-originally (sp?) named usualy the biomorph name weapon name and gaunt (ie toxin-spine-gaunt).

However there is nothing stopping you from being as creative as you like with your gaunt name as long as you tell the opponent or members of this or any forum what weapons it has and those weapons are represented on the creature itself.

Well thats what I think anyway...
