Painted a few squads of my orks now and was wondering about painting the skin / flesh a colour other than green have looked online and seen some blue skin orks but was wondering about yellow , red etc but i do think a field of multi coloured skin orks will look duff. if any one painted there orks different colours and could post some pics or tips would be great.
Orks are green. Painting them another colour is just stupid.

There is only the Emperor. He is our shield and protector.
To OP - You can paint them whatever colour you wish, there are no rules regarding what colour armies are painted. If you don't want to go with green then perhaps you could try thinking of a reason for why they are appearing a different colour? You could paint their skin grey and say that they are fighting on a world that has volcanoes constantly errupting and so they are covered in ash (perhaps you could have a few models with streaks of green to represent rain). Another colour you could do is Ultramarines blue due to the ork army fighting Ultramarines, they see them as being effective killers and believe that if they are blue themselves then they will too (much like their belief that red ones go faster).
Dis boy iz a wrong un, Orks iz Green!
Nah, I say go for it. Your army, your choice. If you wanted to validate it fluffwise then you could say the world they spawned on is highly polluted and mutated them at spore level?
If you wanted to use blue, you could say the deff skullz got a little carried away...
I've seen the pale yellow skin before as well...i remember the thread, the guy eventually painted it green again after a few months...
went with red skin when i was painting up the starter set group to see what scheme i wanted if i ever get around to doing an ork army (and i really want to do one). came out looking pretty good.
shrug, do whatever color you want, it's your army and you're the one who's got to paint them as well as the one who's going to be looking at them the most so the color should be whatever you find pleasing.
Yeah, to echo most everyone else, paint them whatever color you like. Though, yes, they are traditionally green. If you were to go with another color, maybe a suggestion would be to use their Waaagh! color as war paint - say, having some of their faces painted red, or yellow, whatever you like. But really, making a custom army is what the whole modeling scene is about, ya know? Have fun with it!
My Boyz are a fairly traditional green, but others have slightly different colors. I've avoided the radically different color scheme, i.e. Blue Lootas/Deathskulls.
My Nobz are based black, then Scorched Brown, then 50/50 Scorched Brown/Snakebite Leather, then 50/50 Snakebite Leather/Goblin Green, and highlights are done with 25/75 Snakebite Leather/Goblin Green (or more Goblin Green).
It leaves them looking dirtier, leathery and more weathered/war torn, but it's really time consuming... cutting back on steps, mix Green and Brown, Green and Tan then just Green. Do one and see how it turns out.
I've used Brown as a base and then Brown/Tan and then Tan/Dark Orange with for my Burnas...
My Kommandos, I just darkened made them a darker green ultimately ending with Snot Green for the highlights and some Snakebite Leather/Goblin Green for camo-stripes.
Warbikers are caked with dirt and exhaust on their hands, neck and face.
...and so on.
thx for the comments , painted some models see attached....
fluff behind it 4No models shown are all from different clans that have joined forces hence different colour cloths.
sorry for poor quality pic will take another one if get a chance. Red one is is er ... suffering from the blood angels red thirst?!?! but do think red looks good so when get hold of some storm boyz will do red face paint ie orks painted them selves up to move faster like said above think sounds good.
will probably end up painting a few more random skin colours white/bone , yellow , blue but just for fun.
Saunt Alpha any chance of uploading pics of burners & commandos sounds good,
