Season's Joy and Blessings to all from Splinter Fleet Papillon (FINAL NAME)!
One of the really troublesome things about gift-shopping for the family around this season is that I always end up buying a lot of stuff for myself! Not sure what that says about my Advent spirit, but the Hive Mind careth not a fig! There is holiday biomass to be devoured! Tastes like gingerbread. :9
Among my personal hauls are:
2 new Hive Tyrant boxes, one assembled and magnetized for shooty loadouts
3 new Tyrant Guard, one assembled and magnetized for lash whip loadout
2 new Hive Guard
1 new Deathleaper, assembled
A bunch of gants
A bunch of bits from various online establishments for conversion purposes
Once the weekend is over, I'd like to know what everyone else managed to get as their Christmas loot, or if they bought any bugs with their filthy lucre (or filthy gift cards) already.
I've had quite a few days off for a while, and when I wasn't busy with real life stuff, I was a converting whirlwind. Aside from working my second Tervigon to 90% completion (and still managing to have it look like butts, despite using inordinate amounts of greenstuff to hide flaws), I made a Swarmlord, woohoo! Here he is with magnetized arms, just so painting would be easier later.
I even managed to test him out in combat, and I must say I am impressed! Not terribly useful overall, but incredible fun when he actually sees some action! I'll soon be posting a bunch of army lists using my latest additions, so consider this fair warning.
Hope you guys are having as much fun as I am! Can't wait to see what the month ends up giving to all my fellow bug players! God bless!

Ha! love it. I plan on opening up my prezzies in about 2 hours. Hoping to get some more nids, and I love the "feel no pain" marker. Looking forward to see the color schemes on them.

Cool stuff Mads I really like what youve done with the swarmlord, very inventive
One thing though.... id swear a Papillion is a type of small fluffy dog? Am i right and its a bizzare trick to intimidate your opponents, or have i made that up?
Your friendly neighbourhood gargantuan creature
Really like your Swarmlord conversion!
And your FNP marker is hilarious.
Well done. Your army screams "FUN!" while being equally "COOL!"
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Interesting to see the Swarmlord made from the carnifex kit as opposed to the tyrant kit. I suppose it does come out to be a little cheaper and lot more durable. I've never really liked working with metal models anyways. Have fun with him. He's a blast to play, especially if you can get him into cc.
P.S. I guess Hive Fleet Papillon is better than Hive Fleet Cuddles or Hive Fleet Chihuahua.

Thanks, everyone! When I chose Papillon I wasn't really thinking about the little Paris Hilton dogs, but more as the French word for 'butterfly'. I was thinking about what kind of wings to give my Harpies, and thought that might be funny (but probably won't be doing it (unless they're magnetized too, I suppose)). Not everyone knows French, and hopefully not everyone knows about the dogs, so 'Papillon' sounds exotic enough without being easy for someone else to duplicate, while at the same time have a hidden meaning that is funny and ironic given the kind of army I'm fielding.
I chose the Carnifex kit mainly because I wanted ol' Swarmy to stand out-- literally. Having him just as tall as a regular Tyrant just didn't seem to cut it. I might have settled for a converted fex head on a Tyrant body, but it was too big and just plain looked silly. The Tyrant head was too small for the fex body. Therefore, I went all in and used the fex kit as a whole, or rather, a fex torso I'd ordered online, and the innumerable non-torso bits that always seem to get left over from building models. And, yes, metal is an absolute pain to work with, and I wouldn't mind at ALL if they switched to all plastic even if they kept the price the same.
Also, gifts have all come and gone, and no one gave me any GW-related stuff. OH WELL, GUESS I KNOW WHAT I'LL BE GETTING TO USHER IN THE NEW YEAR
