so, my army has a flying tyrant with 2 sets of talons and i was wondering if it was possible to convert the GW dragon wings so that they can fit on the tyrants back because i would like to have both my arm slots still available. is this possible with any other wings maybe?
The best wings that fit would be the GW balrog wings. But im sure any wings would work, all you need is to pin it firmly and its ready to fly. OR you can put the wings in the upper arm sockets and attach the scything talons to the wings.

hey man the common thing is exactly like Hive Fleet Macarbe said, the balrog wings, the dragon wings will work too, i have a friend who has done that (he just drilled pins into the back of the tyrant and bam flyrant), but i would recommend that you dont limit yourself to that, just go with what you like, that the wonderful thing about modding, like i personally just ripped the wings of a $1 toy dragon i found in a toy store, then i just drilled holes in the back of my old 2nd ed tyrant and put magnets in the back and on the wings (with a little green-stuff to help) now i can have a flyrant when i want and switch back to old school tyrant when i want, mind you who ever came up with the idea of magnetizing miniatures is a golden god, cause now i just pop on any weapons i want onto my MC's and can even turn my tyrant into a swarmlord in seconds
that's my half painted tyrant right now, all the weapons can be removed and so can the wings, i need to finish him off soon cause i have a fight with blood angels coming up and i want to see the look on my friends face when i attach those wings to him and be like.. yep.. this is going to F**K your S**T up
but yeah dude, any wings will do, i would say just go with what you want it to look like but plan what you want to do... like pin it/glue it/magnetize it, anyways... just my 2cents
My flyrant uses the dragon wings from GW. They are mounted just behind the upper arm sockets, in front of the carapace (they are NOT mounted on top of the carapace). It takes a little carving on the end of the wings to do it but that'll have to be modified anyway due to how they are shaped. I don't have any pictures and am unable to get any as my models are all 3k miles away atm.
so i like the looks of the dragon wings. so basically i just pin them to his back? i dont have green stuff so thats why im trying to do it without buying anything....?
I used the plastic dragon wings as well. Only I magnetized them to fit into the arm holes. (I decided I would strictly limit myself to the usual 6 limbs on all my 'nids.) It's easy enough to attach any weapons you want to the wings. (I attached scything talons, for example.) This way I can run my tyrant on foot or with wings and there won't be any unsightly wing attachment points to worry about and I have more variety in my lists without having to purchase extra Tyrant models.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I used the dragon wings as-well. I drilled a hole into the carapace and mounted the wings with an 1/8-inch brass rod. They aren't coming off. Ever. I should have taken the time to make them more flush and work out the greenstuff blending better. But honestly by that time I was tired of fiddling with them and didn't want to spend any more effort on attaching them. In hind-sight I would have worked with the blending more. Anyway, here's a shot of em. (Arms are magitized.)
