What can we do? The new splinter weapons ignore our MCs' greatest defence (high T) and chew through our troops; their Power from Pain easily gives their assault units FNP. They have lots of high S low AP weapons at 36". With fast transports, they're also faster to move around the field.
Hive Guard? The Dark Eldar can sit out of range and easily pick off anything they can see.
Short of hoping for good deepstrike results, I'm at a bit of a loss, really.
Assault units with feel no pain are eay enough to deal with, wev've got MC's that ignore it queit happily (the exception being whyches since they're a PAIN.) Theres also queit a bit of S6 shooting lying around (2 TL devourers anyone?) so i wouldnt worry about that. Faster is a problem, but just take long range anti tank and thats sorted.
They shouldnt be beating your hive guard either, wheres their cover save? They should nearly always have one, when then transports come closer, blow the hell out of them.
Speaking of which, we have two units beautifully place to knock out DE tanks, the harpy and the T-fex. Both long ranged, both high strength shots. If the T-fex hits then its certain to damage the transport, and you only need a 3+ to realistically stop the vehicle thanks to open topped. The Harpy's queit useful, with the -1 rule from venom cannons negated.
Take 2 T-fexs, a TL devourer tyrant, a squad of 3 biovores (dark eldar dont like AP4) and if you can fit it, a harpy or two or possibly some hive guard. Blow the hell out of the important stuff, and hormaguants/trygons ect finish off the rest.
DE are hard, but we ARE well placed to counter them. Theyre not going to blow through a T-fex anytime soon, and you chew through their armour like its not even there. Mop up with your heavy hitters and job done.
Your friendly neighbourhood gargantuan creature
Outflanking Genestealers can ruin their day, especially if they have a Broodlord with them. Use hypnotic gaze to engage an Archon or similar fancy type in a staring contest. Given their lower LD you will probably win the staring contest. Then feast on the evil space elves. That's one way of handling the DE. Also use large broods. The DE only get a pain token if they destroy a unit entirely. Big broods of Termagants etc will take ages to destroy and only provide on DE unit with a pain token. This forces them into a war of attrition which they cannot win.
Tyranids can definitely take on Dark Eldar. It's a challenge, but it's certainly doable. However, if you're bringing your assault nids against a decent DE build, you're most likely to lose. To have any chance with them, you would need to have a decent amount of shooting in your list. At the same time, you need some counter-assault or screening units as DE is quite capable of tearing you a new one in assault.
Hive guards, heavy venom cannons and tyrannofex rupture cannons are all great weapons against DE. Twin-linked brainleech devourers is ok against DE infantry, as it will deny their FNP, but is also very short in range. I wouldn't go with zoanthropes as they are too short in range and their AT is overkill. Hive guards is the better choice here.
I would then get tervigons (1 at 1.5K, 2 at 2K) and at least 1 squad of 3x biovores for when you pop their transports. Biovores are especially useful as oftentimes, a lot of DE players will sit back and just shoot initially. Thus, when you pop their boats, with biovores you still have a way to kill their infantry from range.
Darklance spam is not as common anymore, so don't worry too much about it. As long as you have cover for your nid army, dark lances are more of an annoyance to a balanced bug list than an actual threat (with the exception of ravagers). What's more of a threat are massed splinter cannon fire (i.e. venoms) with 3-4 trueborn blasters. Also, their wyches are pretty nasty, but then if they're about to assault, you should be producing gaunt screens to prevent them from assaulting your more important units. That's why you need tervigons.

Thanks for these tips. I can see that I have some modding to do - your advice is all about models I have not run til now. :-)
The only thing nids have to be worried about are the usual lance spam and the splinter cannons destroying your hive guard... ur best bet is to try to play conservatiely with ur hive guard hiding them behind MC and away from splinter cannons while the T-fex which should be screend by other MC's take out the there lance heavy units like ravagers or trueborn in raiders. It will usually boil down to position at this point whether ur models are placed in the proper location in correlation with the rest of the army
@Leech Genestealers wont do jacks**t aganist dark eldar if there all in there raiders ur genestealers will have little to no hope getting there and if they even seem like they might be a threat poison shots will dessentagrate them.
