Have you seen any thing so dam gorgeous! Forge world have just released 2 new Eldar units (Shadow Spectres and Warp Hunters) GOD! i cant get over the niceness of these models!
Lets start with the Warp hunter, Its like a cross between an Cobra and a Fire prism but my god do Eldar know how to work big guns onto small tanks, Now that D-cannon mounted on the warp hunter not only fires shot that always wounds on a 2+ at AP2 where any role of a 6 to wound is instant death with a small blast marker, it can also use a flamer template at a closer range! Yes thats right elder have a flame thrower which fires concentrated warp energy! That will show those nasty Slaanesh
Now some of the nicest models i have seen in a while which has shunned all the bad thoughts i have been having about GW's recent abominations *cough, storm raven, cough*. These jump pack waring, Prism rifle carrying (yes prism rifle..... as in a small fire prism gun..... D=) Invulnerable mothers are going strait on my buy list for my Eldar army. I don't think any one can not like these models..... i mean, GAH! so nice looking! Ok at £32.70 for 5 models is dam expensive and im normally reserved about buying GW models atm with how much every thing in this world has gone up in price but life douse have exceptions!
Ok i will stop creaming my self now and chat about these sexy new aspect warriors, at a Hefty 35 points per model these guys come equipped with jump packs, 4+ saves (3 for exarch) 5+ Invulnerable, can move and shoot there 12" S6 AP2 H1 weapons with the relentless special rule as well as being able to combine there fire power using a ghost site rule allowing the to have a potential BS4 Twin Linked 60" S10 AP2 H1 Lance ..... D=
Oh yeah the Exarch can take a 36" haywire grenade launcher ..........god i want them!
So then, you can see my opinion on the models but like normal there only my opinions so i advise you all to check out these stunning new additions to the forge world collection from there website and then comment about your views
Wadey <3 Shadow Spectres
Shadow Spectres: At 175 points for just the 5 guys they feel massively overcosted, and i cant see them really being used at that price should they become a codex unit at some point. the potential for a s10, 60" lance is great, but again it suffers from the ongoing eldar problem of a massive amount of points for a single shot. The 'focus' model rule I nice. lets you park 4 of them in cover and one in the open, giving the best field of view for shooting, but being sure of a 4+ cover save on return fire. Hit and run is a nice idea to let them get out of cc and fire on their assaulters, but in reality 5 guys at t3 with a 4+.. they're going to die to anything that assaults them. Costing this much tho, you're going to want a farseer near them for fortune, probably also for guide. There's no point in taking an exarch for balistic skill as it won't be used. The haywire launcher is decent (pen on 5-6 is a nice addition) but brings your ghostlight shot down to s9. That looks to maybe be the best way to run them (4prisms and a haywire) but i'll have to do the mathhammer on it. They also make a 'bubble' around themselves which should ward off any deep striking termies, since at 12" they'll be looking at 4 s6 ap2 shots.
All in all, I'm feeling a bit meh tho. They're awesome models, I'll buy some on that basis but sadly I don't think they're worth the points in an actuall game. It comes back to that single shot which just isnt worth it, as great sounding as it might be.
Warp Hunter: I love the look of this thing! Will sit next to my Cobra mkII perfectly heh. Cost wise it's not bad. Higher than the standard 115, but actuaqlly less than a 'normal' falcon. bs3 is meh, but since it's blast/template weapons the impactis minimal. The main D-cannon weapon actually is pretty unimpressive. Against vehicles, it's roughly the equivalent of a single s8 lance shot. against infantry, the fire prism out performes it. the only upside over the first prism is that you can luck an instant death on a t6 w6 big nid from 36" away, but while that's got to be a highly amusing thing to happen, it doesnt make the tank worth it in a standard all-comers list on that basis. Where this tank really has it's awesomeness (for me) is in the aether-rift. A d-cannon flamer with a 14" range! What is not to love. it's a template, so no cover saves.. it's ap2, so no armour saves.. and it wounds on a 2+. sure you need to get close, 6" from the barrel for the start of the template, but if used right it has the potential to murder a large number of enemy infantry, while also posing a threat to vehicles if you really need it to. It will also get your opponent to think twice about trying to give vehicles cover by parking up close behind other vehicles as the aether-rift can hit both! Love the looks (much more-so than the hornet I've got painted up) and love the aether-rift rules. Should be lots of fun to play and a new fire magnet for your enemy to deserately try to take down.
Also worth noting that both refer to being heavy support for Eldar or Eldar corsair armies. A sign of things to come?

There's another thread, but I'll reiterate my post.
I'm only going to talk about Spectres, but you will NEED the Exarch for Cynosure. You do NOT want to waste that Str 10 AP2 shot 2/3 of times. Withdraw probably won't be needed. Their jetpacks are awesome, meaning they can have a single in LOS of enemies, duck out, fire its strength 10 shot, then duck back into cover, and hopefully negate any counterattack. I think people are really underestimating the potential of a range 60" unit with jetpacks. Anyway, they ARE costly, and a bit weak, but it's only experimental rules at the moment. If you get a Haywire, that's still Strength 9 with a Haywire that pens on a 5-6, but only at 36". Not worth it, IMO. Best to just get the Exarch to pad out wounds, so if you lose 1 guy you dont lose a strength. Withdraw will probably be useless considering their 60" range.
They should replace Withdraw with an ability that grants them AP1. Then they will truly be competitive (compare them with a Falcon armed with a BL, or 2 Prisms, and they'd look fairly favourable).
Did you not see the thread started days ago about this... lol
There is another thread, also in the Eldar forum. You might want to take a look at that, although it's a little bit different from this one.
I don't really see myself using Shadow Spectres tbh, they are condemned by the fact that they have no blast template, they are Heavy Support, and the maximum default range is useless. They are overcosted for an entirely dedicated anti-tank unit, though I would be inclined to use them if they were Fast Attack or even Elites instead of Fire Dragons, but the only things that would make me use them are two out of three of: make them not Heavy Support, give them blast templates for the combined shot or make them cheaper.
I actually like the fact they are HS. Gives the option of going an all aspect army (3 Elites, 3 FA, and currently only 1 Troops and 1 HS Aspect).
I envision Falcons going to FA in the next codex anyway. And still, experimental rules. I'd prefer AP 1 to blast though. There's actually a few things that would make them worthwhile compared to say, Prisms or Wraithlords and still keep them at that points cost. One of the following would do it for me.
1. AP 1.
2. Blast Template on Ghostlight.
3. Constant 60" range.
