Ok guys so weird thing years ago I brought assault on black reach for the rule book sold most of the space marines kept the orks I did a deal with someone where I would tack a second assault on black reach and codex on a total wargamer order I was doing and sell him everything but the orks (with the exception of the war boss he wanted for panting project).
Anyway after watching the new 40k film I am thinking of doing a crimson fists army so I am thinking I will buy yes a third assault on black reach I wont find it hard to sell the templates and rule book but my question to you guys is when I eventually do make an ork army how much of the ork stuff I have will I be able to make use off ?
Also while I am not going to be doing an ork army for awhile I am curious to know what sort of model count am I looking at I will be likely doing a 1500 point army and at this point I am thinking infantry heavy?
just to get this straight, you now have 3 aobr sets of orks?
if that is right then you are going to have a bit of a problem. namely that 9 defkoptas is not that effective, nor is two warbosses, and the third you will have to convert, which is hard due to the fact that it is only 2 pieces. also the nobs will be identical. i think you may want to sell 4 of the koptas and 1 of the warbosses and 5 of the nobs, convert the other warboss as best as you can. the buy a box of nobs. make the 5 in the new box how you want, then usethe pieces to convert 5 of the nobs to flash gitz, leaving you with 10 nobs and 5 flash gitz. the 60 ork boys with also have quite a lot of copies, which while i don't mind about, you might.
aprt from that though, you will have a good core of boys which you got cheaper than buying separately, and 9 koptas will be interesting, and 10 nobs will be competetive.
in a 1500 pts army, you are looking at at least 100 models, more if you run green tide (over 120 easily).

You can use it all!
So you might end up with a few extra Deffkoptas... unless you want a squad of 4 and one of 5? But you could also convert a couple of them to have big shootas or buzzsaws. Just to have options on the table.
The extra Warbosses, not a big deal. You can use two of them on the table... play with, convert or trade the third one.
As for the boyz... you now have 60 slugga / choppa boyz! Two full footslogging units, each with two big shootas!
You also now have 15 Nobz... too many for one and too few for two units... but you can use a couple to lead your boyz.
Keep in mind that AoBR does not come with the "real" sprues... so you don't have an option to make shoota boyz, or add bosspoles or PK's to your Nobz.
BUT... if you were to pick up a box of Nobz (giving you ten and two units) you could use the extra bitz to convert a few more of the AoBR Nobz to have combi-weapons, big choppas or PK. Same with a boyz box... pick one up and you have quite a few extra bits to customize a few boyz in the AoBR set.
As mentioned, you can get other sets and use the pieces interchangeably as well... AoBR by itself does not lend you many options, but it does give you a huge amount of models for a screamin' deal.
By itself, the AoBR is roughly 480pts, so three of them will be pushing a bit over 1200 or 1300, depending on what you do with all the greenskinz. So you'd have a few points left to play with some Heavy, Fast or Elites... maybe pick up a Mek w/KFF
I would not sell anything at all (maybe one or two bosses).
My army is based on three AOBR sets. I bought five trukks for a few £ and converted the rest.
Four koptaz (or all of them) can be converted to rokkit buggies. One nob can be converted to a KFF Big Mek.
You don`t have to make identical nobz, I did not as I don`t play that "wound allocating" shenanigan.
Since I have four trukk boyz squads, and a nob squad on trukk I needed PK-s so I just bought some wolf claws, but normal PF is good also. Just klip off the hand from just above the wrist and glue on the glove part of PF or LC.
You only need few trukks (old ones go quite cheap on auction sites) and a few bits to convert the thing You don`t have (bosspole, PK, KFF), but it can be done from plasticard or any kind of plastic box and wires.
Also, if You play only with Your friends You can use converted toy cars.
Another conversion idea for the AoBR nobs: Convert the ones with stikkbombs on their belts into kommandos. Also, you can pretty easily saw their arms off for repositioning or adding different bits here and there.
