Welcome to Librarium Online!
On an approval of 1 to 10 should an eldar player of 1.5 years like me switch to DEldar? What are the pros and cons? Are they fun to play? (CWE are very, very stale and limited)
My compiled thoughts blog.
If someone posts something helpful +rep them
However, they can be hard to play if your opponents use a lot of vehicles. (What do you meen, I can't poison your tank?!?)
Buy or borrow the codex and play an army with your Eldar figures substituting for the DE to see how they go.
I would give you about a 7-8, since you are most like familiar with a fast style army you should be able to adapt to DE fairly quickly, but here's my pro and cons in comparison to Eldar.
We're Fast and cheaper so there's generally a lot more of us
Our CC unit are very effective when used against the correct targets or give the right support.
Pain tokens Improve our infantry survivability.
We have LOTS of shiny toys, many can seriously upset opponents, look up the shatter shard, liquifer guns or huskblade.
With a large amount of poison shots you don't have to fear MC's or high toughness anymore.
Nightshield and Flickerfields, learn to love them.
Even though there are more of us our vehicles are more fragile (tau will make mince meat out of them).
Many strength 6 shots are replaced by few str 8 ones (still a lot but not as many)
Poison weapons don't work until you pop those damn rhinos your opponent is hiding in.
These are just the things I can think of, if anyone can add to the lists feel free.
I figure as an Eldar player you'd get the hang of them pretty quickly. I'm currently building an army (but to keep myself from going broke, I'm only using store credit that I win from tournaments) and I've made what I think are pretty decent lists. I only have an archon, 2 kabalite squads, and a raider so far, but hey, we're getting there. It's a solid codex with lots of fun units (which, while our eldar codex has lots of fun looking units, it is far from solid).
