Welcome to Librarium Online!
Please excuse any mistakes and such, first time posting on this site.
Alright, i've been thinking about getting back into the hobby, haven't played in a few years, and after looking at the models on the site, i've fallen in love with Dark Eldar the way they look and from torrenting their codex. What really drives my passion for DE is the diversity of their units, so many to choose from for fulfilling different roles, and the pro/con that there aren't models for many of the units. As such i am thinking of constructing a Coven army, the opportunity for lots of modding with my wracks and grotesques and just the fluff in the codex about them really has me gearing to build an army centered around these ghoulish abominations. I just made a quick 1000 point list, so please excuse any beginner mistakes/poor setups, i tried to build a strong force with every unit capable of doing some real damage and take down anything that comes in my way. Please post any suggestions or critiques.
Haemonculus Ancient - wargear: casket of fleansing, scissorhand, flesh gauntlet: 125
Haemonculus Ancient - wargear: dark gate, agoniser, flesh gauntlet: 145
Grotesques - wargear: liquifier gun, scissorhand, aberattion, Composition- 3 grotesques 1 aberattion: 175
Wracks - wargear: scissorhand, liquifier gun, Composition- 8 wracks, 1 athocyst
Kabalite Warriors - wargear: blaster, splinter cannons, blast pistol, composition- 9 warriors 1 sybarite: 150
Raider - wargear: chain snares, shock prow, retrofire jets, splinter racks, dark lance: 85
Raider - wargear: Chain snares, shock prow, retrofire jets, disintegrator cannon: 75
Raider - wargear: chain snares, shock prow, retrofire jets, disintegrator cannon: 75
I wanted to have a fast moving force hence the 3 raiders, with enough room to get my grotesques/wracks in the fray fast and give support fire with the disintegrator cannons, the raider with the splinter racks i would have my kabalite warriors in, get to a good firing position and unload. I plan on having my haemonculi accompany my wracks and grotesques, the hope is with their weapon upgrades and the speed they get in range in their raiders i can finish a squad off in combat within 1 or 2 turns before they get chewed up with their 6+ saves. Again, please leave any comments/critiques.
sorry forgot to post total of wrack unit 115 points
Firstly welcome. Secondly, sadly you posted this in the wrong place (slightly), but don't worry a friendly mod will probably shift it over to the Dark Eldar Army Lists section (a sub forum of this one). Right on to comments about the list, first off drop the disintegrators, you need the dark lances to take out enemy vehicles. Secondly in a list thsi small you really only want one HQ and you probably don't need him to be ancient, if going wiht two make sure that neither are ancient.
As to actual unit composition, you have too much stuff on your HQ units for this size of list, pare them down a tad. Your grotesques are fine. Wracks are perfectly workable. I'd drop the blast pistol and probably the sybarite on the warriors, balst pistols are too short ranged to really be effective. Also drop the chain snares, shock prow and retrofire jets, they are doing you no favours and consuming points. Add Flickerfields, maybe. Making those changes will give you room for a whole extra unit of your choice. It's late and I'm tired so sorry I haven't given a longer explanation. I may well do so tommorow, if someone else hasn't already fleshed out my points for me.
Also don't forget both Wracks and Grotesques have high toughness (4 and 5 respectively) and feel no pain, so they effectively have a 3.5+ save as well.
Hope that helped.
thanks for the feedback and the welcome, sorry about posting in the wrong area. I had doubts about my army being too small for a 1000 point list, i'll definitely take your advice on the dark lances and raider upgrades, and squeeze down my HQ to one haemonculi with less upgrades. Perhaps i'll add in a squad of scourges with the spare points, any suggestions for another squad? i think my wracks and grotesques will more then tear apart squads, but i think i could use more ranged anti-infantry firepower.
Working with your list i'd try the following: Swap out both Haemunculus for Urien Rakath. He makes wracks a troop too and gived D3 wracks / grots an extra pain token at the start of the game. Nice for wracks / grots to start with furious charge.
Strip out the unnecessary upgrades from the raiders and the warriors like karantalis said and you should be able to squeeze a second unit of wracks into your army list. If you cant afford another raider for the 2nd wrack unit give them the warrior's one. With so much close combat in your army warriors dont need to move as quickly.
Urien Rakath: 190
Grotesques - wargear: scissorhand, aberattion, Composition- 3 grotesques 1 aberattion: 165 (removed liquifier gun; its a cc only unit)
Wracks - wargear: 2x liquifier gun, Composition- 9 wracks, 1 athocyst: 120 (maxed out squad size + swapped scissor hand for 2nd liquifier gun)
Kabalite Warriors - wargear: blaster, splinter cannons, composition - 10 warriors: 115 (removed unnecessary sybrite)
*Wracks - wargear: 2x liquifier gun, Composition- 9 wracks, 1 athocyst: 120*
Raider - wargear: flickerfields, grizzly trophies, torment grenade launchers, dark lance: 80 (This one is for the Grots and Urien)
Raider - wargear: flickerfields, dark lance: 70
Raider - wargear: flickerfields, dark lance: 70
*Raider - wargear: flickerfields, dark lance: 70*
Think that adds up.
Oh and hope you roll a 3 on Urien's D3 lol. 2 units of furious charging wracks and a furious chargeing / fearless grots unit? yes please.

Unless you fight against an army with high rear armour, don't worry about losing your raiders Dark Lance. You'll find your grotesques like nothing more than munching through vehicles. Also, if they have Furious Assault they'll get a strength bonus when they charge in and as they're not locked in combat each turn they attack it counts as a new combat so they'll always get the Furious Assault strength bonus.
