I am currently engaged in a persistent 40k campaign with my local gaming group, and this campaign allows for unique units to be fielded with an RPG element involved.
I can, under certain circumstances, field any one unit as a unique version of that unit starting at the unit's base stats and options, and gaining levels through experience to increase in ability and wargear.
I opted away from vehicles like a more powerful hammerhead, because the rules state that if the unit is completely wiped out then it is lost and I have to start from scratch on the next one. A vehicle is a sturdy thing, but one good roll on a damage table and I have a smoking heap. Plus everyone and their dog will be happy to take out my railgun by gunning for my unique tank.
I decided to use the stealth teams for their potentially great survivability. Plus the campaign calls for some battles being Kill team missions, and a kitted out stealth team seems to me like the perfect Tau commando squad.
The first thing I am having trouble with however is a Tau name for the squad. Delta Squad and other similar names are extremely lame and over done, thus I was hoping to scrounge through Tau lexicons and make a suitable conjigation of Tau monikers to give the squad a personality.
I was thinking of something stealthy seeming obviously like 'silent blades' or the like, only in Tau-ease
Anyone have a good lexicon and/or are bored enough to help me name my commando squad?
Kusanagi. It's a legendary Japanese sword handed down from the gods as proof of the emperor's divine lineage, and it translates as "grass cutter."

Well, if you want a huge list of potential Tau words to sort through, you could follow the link below...
According to said list;
Myr: Meaning; “Knife” or “Blade”
And I can't find anything for silent. I did find...
Mon: Meaning; “Black” or “Greys” –in reference to colour (it seems).
Mont: Meaning; “War” or “Battle”
...Which might be of some use to you.
R'myr - Long Knife (forgeworld commander I think <_< )
Eio'Myr - Sword
Kunas'Myr - Agile (dexterous) knives
M'yan'Myr - Blades of Sorrow
Olku'Myr - decisive blades
Soo'Myr - Skilled Blades
Ta'Myr - Soul Knife
T’n'cha - Composite Word; Meaning; “Of Second Purpose” or "On the Other Hand"
Y'eldi'Myr - Winged Blade
Ea Kau'da - The Patient Darkness
Rra'Myr - Shadow Knives
Here are some I came up with browsing the lexicon. More ideas are still appreciated. =)I like that name and it fits the Tau in many ways, but it is not the Tau language. If I fail to come up with something else I will default to that suggestion, thanks!Kusanagi
