I've been looking over the codex and thinking how the army works....
Venoms with extra splinter cannons are amazing.
I'm tempted to run a list with mostly venoms, low unit sizes and just hope that the multitude of venoms can shoot everything to pieces.
My only worry is that with out taking a lot of raiders, I will limit my tank hunting ability.
Also, the idea of taking 5 warriors with a blaster in a venom w/ an extra splinter cannon, x6, is awesome to me. All troops slots filled out for 750 pts, and with that you get 72 poison shots just from the venoms. Amazing.
What are your thoughts on this? Is it too fragile, would it not be able to pack in enough effective tank killing in the other slots? (Heavies would, of course, be ravagers)

Troops 6x 5 Kabalite Warriors (1 w Blaster) in Venom w SC

It ties up a huge chunk of points for basically 6 blasters which is somehow good - this is not the case. If you are going to take anti-tank do it properly and take ravagers, scourges or any other of the multitude of options DE have.
That many venoms is total overkill and it absolutely gimps your force if the opponent stats systematically aiming for your dedicated anti-tank units (probably trueborn and ravagers since thats the in thing now). It also completely and utterly wastes the warriors, squads of 10 (or more if you like that) are exceotionally good midfield units to support a properly built army. 10 Warriors with a cannon and blaster will (on average) put 4 wounds on anything with a 3+ save that is T6 or below.
DE MSU is a totally different beast to the same, tired old design people have been using with marines for years and spamming venoms is pretty shit unless you play against nothing but swarm armies. The best vehicle in the codex is the raider as it offers more than just "herp a derp i got more gunz lolz" and they don't cripple a list when you spam them.
I agree with the outsider 100% here.
You just have to put this list against a mech army from one of the other codexes and see how it does.
Mech Guard- Multi lasers, using blasters will put you in flamer/rapid fire range and their troops will just wipe us after dumping us out of our transports, remember you're moving 6" if you want to shoot out of those raiders with your trueborn. Your troops will be too valuble to risk going ijnti blaster range with in an objective game, and then there's the vendettas and sentinels to absolutely destroy ravagers.
Blood Angels and Space Wolf razorspam will just laugh at a DE list that tries to outshoot them. With either lasplas or assault cannon razorbacks your vehicles wont last long, add in the firepower of a couple mobile predatord, and ball preds/landspeeders or some long fangs and TWC to hit any units of yours that get dumped out of transports close to the SWs.
Other DE lists can try to leverage more advantages, such as assault or having the unit numbers to survive losing a transport and having to a run to an objective. No i'm not sayin that a normal DE list will dominate mech armies i just dont beleive that the venom/blaster spam will do any better.

I'm sorry if I sounded like this was the end-all, be-all method to run Deldar. I just thought it was an interesting way to run the army. Hence why I asked if it was possible to get enough tank hunting with the rest of our slots so that we aren't dead in the water against tanks.
Because I know the bikes are good, but they're also fragile and don't really kick it into high gear till turn two at the soonest. And trueborn w/ blasters is fine and all as support but I agree it's not great as one of the main means of popping tanks/transports.
Just a thought, nothing more.
4 Trueborn with Blasters and a Raider is an excellent way to pop a tank. On turn 1 thats 5 shots that can destroy most anything. Combining this with the 3 ravagers means some serious anti mech on T1. If you don't like that you can take 2 Trueborn and give them a DL and combine with a raider to make ravager equivalent (w/o the movement of course)
