I'm wondering what sort of extraordinarily good or horribly bad experiences you more experienced players have had with necrons.
As an example, I have had two games of planetstrike. In the first I particle whipped a bastion with a lith and it scattered back and blew up my mono, losing the last contested objective we needed. On the second, my lord killed a ironclad dread and my lith killed a land raider, both in 1 turn and only 1 try.
I won close combat and a sweeping adance roll off.
The most extraordinary experience I've had was playing against Tyranids (the new codex), I had a winged Hive Tyrant accidentally wound itself while flying out of difficult terrain, it then charged a squad of my Warriors with my Lord (with only Staff of Light), it then only managed 2 wounds against me, I managed 2 against it, portalled on my turn and rapid fired it to death. Also, in the same game, 4 Zoanthropes failed to damage either of my Monoliths the entire game, 2 of which killed themselves to Perils of the Warp.

The most ridiculously lucky fight I've had is 10 warriors vs Abaddon. He rolled 2 1s for his daemon wep - lost combat 1st time, killed himself the second!

When i first started going down to the veterans night at my local store two years ago one of my first games was against a guard player with a reputation for "background obsession"
He had set up the table before i arrived and eagerly waited for someone to play. I agreed and it turned out he had filled his deployment zone with bunkers (armour 14 all around) and had some kind of "custom" tank from an imperial armour list.
Naturally he deployed all his stuff in the bunkers and spent the game shooting at my advancing necrons.
I then promptly slaughtered Commissar Yarrik and his ogryn bodyguard in combat, shredded his tank of it's weapons, it's mobility and finally it's existence and ended up winning on killpoints, good times.
Also, i killed a Stompa with an equal amount of points of necrons in an in store challenge, immobilising it, stripping it's weapons off to kill it.
Although, i don't put either win down to skill....just luck and a very VERY durable race
WORSHIP THE VINDICATOR!!! (And a Drop Pod full of Combie-Melta Sternguard never hurts either)
Ok, my most rediculous game was a 2v1. Nids and tua v necron. I had two lithe and the tua had two railheads, he only rolled 2 and 3 for penetration. I also had the nightbringer, he gets shot at by the railheads and saves himself, but he dies form mass attack of 20 genestealers, 2 teams of crisis suits and a brood of tyranid warriors. When he died, he took out all but 6 models. Those six guys were crisis suits because the tua player gave them all a 4+ invulnerable save.
Necron(Me) + CSM vs BA and Guard
I was phased on turn 3. it was AWESOME.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
I was playing an Ork player a while back. I got stomped, PO on turn 4. He was playing Green Tide with a squad of Nobz for wound shenanigans, and I just couldn't muster the firepower to kill enough of them off before they charged and wiped me out. The consolation prize for me though was how much he was ragging on me for taking Wraiths. He kept talking about how much they sucked, why did I bother, why would anyone ever take Wraiths, blah blah blah... then my warriors stunned his Battlewagon. My Wraiths charged it and blew it up, and then shredded his Big Mek after it hopped out. I felt kinda smug about that.
1500 point game with a nearly flawless victory against Space Wolves Thunderwolf list. I took a single wound on my Deciever and wiped him out by turn 5. Even ended with more models than I started because of the spider.
