Welcome to Librarium Online!
So what do we think about Assault Cannons becoming Heavy 4 Rending..?
I'm not too familiar with SM units, so how many could you realistically be facing and how much of a threat is it to a TMC? Or do they just make themselves a prime target for biovores, VC, etc?
If they wanted to, they could take quite a few...
Land raider crusader has twin linked, dreadnoughts can have them, terminator units can, probably more can't remember...
Without invulnerable saves they could become quite dangerous for nids...
their landspeeder sqaudron will be more dangerous than ever before, the normal landspeeder can be upgraded into either a tornado or typhoon
imagine a squad of 3 LS tornado's coming your way, I think these units will cause large amounts of casualties in the future for us.
also since the o-1 limit on the LRC is probaly gone, we'll have to face those a lot more often in multiple numbers
This could potentially suck for the Nid Monstrous creatures. I think the new Nid Codex will have something that will help counter this nastiness though. We'll have to see what GW can cook up for us!

Such assault cannons will be roughly as effective as lascannons against our big bugs, while being a lot more effective against the small ones. Ouch.
We can expect a point cost increase for that thing though.
While before the Assault Cannon was mainly only effective against massed troops (our gaunts and anything with a save lower than 4+) it is now a threat to our heavier creatures. Since it doesn't really change how it just punches a normal gaunt down in the face anyway, that doesn't really matter. I haven't seen the rules for the new Autocannon yet, but I do hope that it has a higher chance to jam or something. Or if it jams maybe it causes an explosive wound against the model firing...
At any rate, even if the LRC is no longer limited to 0-1 per most armies, it's doubtful you'd see more than one fielded against you. Two would be a huge points sink and while if your dice rolls are lucky, you could dominate the game with a couple of squads in there, be they power armored or terminators, the same could be said for any unit that is beefy and manages to have lucky dice angels .
"Can you put that in a memo and title it '***** I already know!'"
Church: "Ok, so we're agreed? You first!"
Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
