I have been hearing about a lot of people running 20 kabalites with Sliscus as a mainstay for their lists. I am wondering two things:
-What are the squad upgrades that go with this squad (cannons, Dl's, blasters, etc)?
-What is the benefit of such a huge target over going with two separate 10 man squads to create more targets (minus the fact of Sliscus poison bonus of course)?
(i am fairly new to 40k and DE with only one game under my belt, so please excuse my naivety)
squad upgrades = agonisers, cannons. reason? 3+ to wound with ALL splinter Weapons? i'll give the Syrabite a rifle!
This squad is great to sit in covens blast anything in range while shrugging off half the wounds they take. If you start sliscus with them and a haemy you haves squad that is dangerous and really survivable.
For upgrades I like to maximize splinter weapons for all the 3+ wounding.
im really annoyed.. i wrote you a lovely 5 LARGE paragraph breakdown of what types of simmilar blob squads are good an how to use them and what upgrades for what scenarios etc.. it said id posted it, and it didnt appear. so i posted it again, and it said i had alreadt posted it. so i assumed it was waiting for moderation or something, but it seems not.. librarium you have failed me.. and the hour i spent writing that post!!

I personally would not run this unit because most of my opponents have a few out-flanking units which imo would be the bane of this particular unit.
Otherwise it would be a very intimidating unit. good luck.
And this is the reason why I always Ctrl+C the text if it's a long well-thought writeup on something. Forums seem to enjoy snacking on long posts... I should know, has happened to me way too often.
On topic, I sometimes run a massive 20-strong squad of Kabalites with 2x Splinter Cannons, a Blaster and a vanilla Sybarite for the Ld-boost. I'd imagine this setup would be disgustingly good with Sliscus -plan on testing sometime soon- since it works fairly well against most enemies aside from BA Terminators. It gets all kinds of silly if there's a piece of area terrain (like a ruined multi-storey building) near your deployment zone that you can take advantage of.
also a Baron idea since the squad benefits from stealth. So give a squad a heavy cover, stealth and FNP and watch as the squad gets save after save
I've been wanting to try a combined duke/baron army. 20 strong kabalites with both would be obscene. Would the duke bonus apply to the splinter pods on the barons board?
Or a huge trueborn squad with carbines.
I was thinking of taking a 10 man (max size) trueborn squad with carbines and cannons coming out of a portal possibly with the duke. Wander out and wave goodbye to an infantry squad....
