    Phantom titan finally ready!!

    Check out the ForgeWorld Phantom

Forge World - Eldar Phantom Titan Preview

I have to say that looks proper awesome now it's all painted up and posed (although I hate the colour scheme)

No doubt that will weigh in at £500+ but the fluff says it's the most powerful model in all 40K (so far) so a real treat for Eldar players with heavy purses.

I've had to promise my wife that I'll paint all of my other Forgeworld stuff before I can even consider looking at this seriously.

Now, time to mop up that puddle of drool

Here's the text from the Forgeworld newsletter that announced the Phantom. Of particular interest in the weapons. An even more devastating D-Cannon than on the Cobra?!

Tall, slender and elegant, the Phantom is the largest known pattern of Eldar Titan. It is swift and agile in comparison to the lumbering behemoths of the Legio Titanicus, and is armed with some of the deadliest examples of Eldar weaponry.
Each Phantom is the pinnacle of Eldar warcraft. Linked to a wraithbone core containing the living spirit of its previous pilots, the single crewman of each Phantom Titan, known as a Steersman, is an Exarch dedicated to this aspect of warfare. Locked in a trance-like state, the Steersman’s consciousness merges with the spirit-sentience of the Titan, enabling the mighty war machine to react and manoeuvre with astonishing speed.
The Phantom Titan is most commonly armed with at least one immense Phantom Pulsar, a long range and rapid-firing energy weapon far superior to anything sanctioned by the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Phantom’s other primary weapon is often a Phantom D-Cannon; much larger and more powerful than similar technology used by the Cobra or Warp Hunter, it tears a seething warp-rift in the fabric of reality to engulf and utterly destroy its foe. As well as these primary weapons, the Phantom is armed with shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft and anti-personnel missile launchers as well as an additional heavy weapon; usually a long-barrelled Star Cannon or Pulse Laser. Adeptus Mechanicus logis-engines also record other primary weapons systems that have been encountered in the long history of conflict between the Imperium and the Eldar.
The Phantom Titan is the tallest war machine Forge World has ever designed. First showcased at an early stage of development at Games Day UK 2010, designer Will Hayes has now finished crafting this graceful masterpiece. Packed with lavish external and internal detail, including a stunning cockpit interior sculpted by Simon Egan, the Phantom Titan has taken a full year to complete, such is the degree of detail and workmanship that this most impressive model (we can’t call it a miniature!) boasts.
The Phantom Titan will be on sale for the very first time at the Forge World Open Day. You’ll be able to admire a fully painted example of this majestic model over on our Studio stand, where Will Hayes will also be explaining exactly how such a project is undertaken.
Full technical information and background for the Phantom Titan will be provided in Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara along with full rules for fielding what is the single most powerful model currently available in Warhammer 40,000.
At the beginning of turn 1, I spray my opponent's army with the bacon flavored spray. Then I unleash my Boston Terrier Squiggoth who then devours their entire bacon flavored army! There is no defense against her cuteness! All are doomed!

What could be worse than a 10" D weapon? D weapon barrage perhaps?

I'm guessing longer range and perhaps the Apoc Barrage. I'd also wager the Phantom Pulsar will be 7"blast 2 shots. Or perhaps keep the 5" but goto 3-4 shots!

Either way, I just ordered my Lynx this morning (with Sonic Lance-I plan to swap it out on occasion with a Pulsar from my Scorpion) and will order IA11 the minute it's released!

dont forget cobras ignore void and power shields too. So it basically must shoot twice or use the barrage template..which isnt much bigger..or longer range.

Yes but the benefit of a barrage would be much more apparant against multi wound infantry with Inv saves or eternal warrior, and also super heavies with multiple structure points - even with the 10" pizza of doom it's possible to just shake a baneblade, but a D-Apoc Barage (5) on the other hand would be very messy. Throw that on a Reaver and tell him you are ignoring his void shields and you won't be popular - We can dream.

Things is the Cobra cannon is already very nasty so other than increasing it's range I'm not sure that any further improvements would be fair. We are already D-tastic and the addition of the Lynx and this Phantom make us the number 1 apoc army if you ask me.

I can't wait to see the stats and weapons on this thing...and I would have to agree with Daziel, Eldar have to be the most kick ass APOC army, apart from the imperial guard we have more APOC formations than anyone else as far as I can tell and we have more formations than anyone else that lets us use regular codex units to combine into D weapons! This shouldn't be surprising fluffwise, they are the most advanced race out there technologically and mankind have been around only a fraction of the time Eldar have existed.
