I've been playing DE for about six years. Mixed feelings over the new codex, but it is nice to have some new stuff to play with. I've never run a WWP with the new codex, and only did so maybe three times in the old codex with pretty decent results. Just wondering what people have found that works.
Placing the WWP: Current idea, just one unit on a raider or venom. Probably a warrior squad with splintercannon and a Haemie. Fly 12, hop out, drop portal, and let the warriors shoot if they can.
What to take: Not fully sure. Sounds like hellions, beasts, and reavers all work well. Thoughts of footslogging wyches? Sounds like theres a good chance they'll just be destroyed, maybe not if other units can tie up enough units and create melee shields. Same for incubi.
For antitank? I love my ravagers, but what do people think of the talos comming from a WWP? I tend to take the duke, so I could always have the ravagers deepstriking in. Else just sit them on the table at the start, give them ns and ff and just try to kite enemy tanks. There are always trueborn with blasters as well, or scourges with haywireblasters.
What if you're fighting a rushing CC army! : Thoughts on portal placement? Might be best to drop it on one flank only a modest distance from your table edge.
So yeah! Thoughts? Ideas? Appricated.

I've used wwp more times than not so here are my experiences so far.I have seen some lists but no ever reveals how they do once they come out – my guess is not very. I am not that much of a gambler for wyches on foot.Thoughts of footslogging wyches?I would think so.Same for incubi.I love my Talos out of a portal, they have heat lances and has always had a target to shoot at. No question for me to skip out on the ravagers, I suck at 3 lance ravagers – go figure. Again, the down fall here is the randomness of getting the Talos out of reserves. Once out, however, I haven’t had a bad outing yet.For antitank? I love my ravagers, but what do people think of the talos comming from a WWP?I dunno about the Duke in a WWP list and I know even less of deepstriking ravagers – they always seem to not have a problem getting in range of something from my board edge. I say why risk it?I tend to take the duke, so I could always have the ravagers deepstriking in.That’s what most do.Else just sit them on the table at the start, give them ns and ff and just try to kite enemy tanks.Good for deepstriking and disembarking because of the Duke. There are always trueborn with blasters as well,From starting on the board, yes. From deepstriking, haywires or heat lances. From a portal, heatlances all the way!or scourges with haywireblasters.Yah, had it happen once when I got too aggressive, I dropped the portal on the mid board. Thunderwolf cavalry moved, fleeted and charged the haemy and wracks thus wiping them out and then consolidating around the portal to block my beasts (but my reavers didn’t mind). Very miserable moving beasts from your own table edge…What if you're fighting a rushing CC army! : Thoughts on portal placement? Might be best to drop it on one flank only a modest distance from your table edge.
Hope this gave you some ideas!

I do prefer to run 2 raiders and my 2 ravagers from the get go. Unless the game is 1250+ there probably is not much use having a WWP in your list. My 9 man warrior squads are purely there for ablative wounds, made handy with a haemy escort giving them a token. Will consider SC upgrade if I have the points but generally the squad makes do with rifles. I have to accept that my anti tank has to come from elsewhere as my Darklight weapon costs have skyrocketed. I kit out all skimmers with Aethersails for ultimate maneovering and skip on the fields. Try and obscure the raiders to survive until your turn 2 and deploy WWP as deep as possible. I leave one dedicated raider empty, DS it as a taxi and then try and launch my assaults out of the WWPs where possible. Hopefully the reserve rolls are generous!
I have a sort of unorthodox way of playing the WWP list.
First of all I mainly play 2K games, so I take 2 WWP's. I put both carriers in one raider (risky I know) and fly them up 12''. After I've turned the Raider in the direction I want it, I pop out both carriers, one 2'' from the front hull and one 2'' from the back hull. Then I lay down those WWPs. Or you could just seperate the carriers into 2 different transports, that would at least increase the chances of survival should they shoot you down.
I have used this technique a few times with alot of success. The 2 WWPs allows you to cover more of the field with appearing units, and will almost guarantee that every unit will get to assault something when they come out. Also 2 WWPs are alot harder to surround then 1. This is one of the changes I liked about the new dex, more than one WWP.
Keep in mind that I usually play Nids, Orks, and SWs, so this tactic may not work as well vs the shooters who just stand around. good luck.

So archon rockin the WWP or haemy?
aight thats what i was thinking thanks
I'm thinking 2 units of wracks with heamies carrying the wwps, both in raiders. The other HQ is the baron with a unit of hellions 15-20 man strong emerging from the wwp. Beastmasters/Reavers/Wyches also emerge from the wwps, ravagers and maybe a couple of warrior units either on the ground or in raiders as gunboats deploy on the table. or maybe it's better to keep most things in reserve. I just don't know yet. But I will try it out, since i have the wwp models
