Do DE have anything good for Apoc games?
You see, I'd been wondering how many points I should hand my opponent to make the 5 jetfighters and 2 bombers I would want to bring into flyers... and it turns out the answer according to GW is 0.
Behold: Valkyrie Datasheets. Please note the blue box on page 2. https://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA...A_Valkyrie.pdf
Now, ask yourself "If an imperial skimmer without super-sonic rockets and dark eldar technology can be a flyer by virtue of being a flyer... then SURELY a JETFIGHTER can!" If your opponent doesn't follow this train of logic, toss him a few points for his pain. If he STILL doesn't, find a different opponent. ^_^
Edit: You might even argue that the wing-mounting for the darklances makes them ideal for some sort of ANTI-AIR role, since that seems the sort of role a jetfighter really should be performing.

DE have one of the best things for Apocalypse: the flickerfield. D weapons autopenetrate vehicles and have a +1 on the damage table resulting in some kind of destroyed result 50% of the time. These D weapons ignore cover saves regardless of source and are the bane of most deathstars. The flickerfield gives you a 33% chance of ignoring a D weapon hit which is more survivability then most vehicles have against them.

Ok, let me rephrase. Do we have any super-heavies or GC's?
Easy answer, no. But there a couple of formations, such as:
Splinter Raid Force - Non scatter deepstrike for a unit of Raiders and jetbikes
Ravager titan hunters - slightly more durable Ravagers with special abilities to ignore void fields, power fields and Eldar HFs
Raven Murder Suadron - Flyers that can start on the table instead of reserve
Dark Eldar can also take Void Dragon Phoenixes
I'm pretty sure there was something called Carnival of Pain that was Urien and a bunch of Grots but I can't see that anywhere now.
There are also some DE specific Strategic assets in Apoc Re-loaded.
I did read somewhere that ForgeWorld were working on a large DE model but I can't remember where. I'm sure you can convert up a Revenant titan to be all spiky and DE if you want to .
They have the new phantom titan. They look awesome and fluff-wise I could say that the DE, when they fled to the webway were able to steal the body of one. Eventually one of the original dark muses had his soul transferred to it...
Something like that
I could forgive a Revenant Titan fluff-wise due to the jump jets making it quick, but I think a Phantom is pushing it - still you can ally with Eldar, so no biggie.
I have the Karnival of Pain Formation saved at home, I can provide it but with the new Grotesques it will be very broken.
For example, the KoP allows the Grotesques to roll for a combat drug that they get for the entire game (like it is now with the wyches) and then get to roll a 2nd combat drug every assault phase (so they keep one and get a variable drug effect on top of that that changes from round to round).
Just imagining the Grotesques with all those drugs on top of the pain token effects would just be too wild for any opponent to be ok with it.
