Is a necron lord w/ rez orb and veil of darkness in a unit of 10 immortals jumping around the board a good idea?
The rest of the army is 2 4x destroyers, 2 3x heavy destroyers and 3 15x warriors.

Well there was this one time where we teleported into a piece of terrain that blocked line of sight, other than that lots of fun with assault weapons with range of 24"!
Fun, yes. Is it a good idea, fair. Destroyers are always more useful. I mean at the same point value of your lord and immortals I can field 10 destroyers. The randomness of scattering out of range, or into assault range can hurt...especially with sweeping advances they way they are now.

Can't you only use VoD once per game?

You can use the veil every turn. As for the question. I have been hit and miss with it. If you make your roll and position well, it can turn the game. If you scatter badly it can lose it for you.
Either way it can add some fun to the match, but if you are all about winning I would agree with Trainer.
The Flying Circus as this tactic is call is a great one; I wouldn't worry too much about being Swept with Immortals being T5, because you can always veil out of combat after the first assault. I like to use it to strike the enemy where they aren't expecting it, back behind enemy lines and constantly jumping around from target to target.
