Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just participated in my 1st tournament on Saturday.
I played in 3 matches. 2 of them were on a table that wopuld have been great for cityfight. I didn't get much use out of my broadside on that table. 1 match was against Salamanders and the other was against Sisters.
I managed a tie against the salamanders in a table quarters mission.
The sisters beat me in the mission where you don't find out the objective till turn 3. The objective ended up being who controlled the most terrain pieces. Sisters had 5, I had 2, and 3 were contested.
My 3rd match was on a fairly open table, but the Eldar player managed to keep his Wave Serpent, Fire Prism, and Wraith Lord out of LOS. We ended up playing several turns with high gravity, so my hammerhead got taken out quickly, since I couldn't move it more than 6 inches. I managed a tie on this mission as well.
So my record for the tournament was:
I had a total of 50 points which put me in 32nd out of 36. I actually did better than the SM that got me to play and he has 8 years of experience compared to my 1.
I don't think I did too bad for my 1st tournament. I also think I learned some lessons on how to better compse my list and what mistakes not to make.
For instance On my batle against the sisters I got my Shas'O way too close to his Seraphim. I was able to make the seraphim flee CC, but on his next turn they regrouped and charged right back in. I also let my FW stay too close to one unit of his troops, that heavy flamer really demolished my squad.
Hopefully I'll do even better at the next tournament.

I haven't been in a tournament yet. And this saturday there is going to be a 7 team multi with me and a few of my commrads. I'm looking forward to learn more about the game. Though I hope that my team will win, I will not mind a lose as long as it was still a good game and that I learned form my (hopfully few) mistakes. I wish you luck for your next tournament, wish me some too ^_^
When I finish my army I'll go for some regular friendly competision b4 I start on the big stuff. I need to know my army b4 I play.

I've been playing with only my friends so far, and they are usually confused and unreliable. Anybody that lives in illinois in the Palatine area or anywhere near there, where are the tournaments and when? If you don't know could you just show me a website where it talks about this stuff. I know there is a new Games Workshop place near Chicago, but i was wondering if there was anything closer that regularly had games. It would be much appreciated.
