I have just recently picked up the codex for Eldar and i have a few models and was wondering if i could get a few opinions. Oh and in case it comes up i dont have the rule book yet however it is in the mail and i will be getting it soon.
First, my army consists of a Farseer, a unit of Guardians (i love a challenge) and i have 2 War Walkers trying to get a 3rd. So as you can tell i am in the building stage of 40k, and thus brings my question.
Having 3 War Walkers i know can be really good, and i plan on loading them with scatter lasers. But is it viable to have 2 with dual SL and 1 with dual EML (krak) for help with tank busting? Or should i just go with all SL and leave the tank busting to our Grav Tanks and Fire Dragons?
And at this time i have not entirely decided what all i am going to get to fill out my army so i am open to suggestions. And yes i know, Wave Serpents are next on my list
For me personally I'd not bother with the EML, Eldar units are great if you use them for a specific purpose, I run my 3 WW with 2x Scatter lasers each, I mainly fight an Ork player so imagine 24 strength 6 shots ripping into a mob of boyz and then combine that with a farseer with Guide to re roll misses and doom to re roll wounds, your opponent will cry
for anti armour we have a huge amount of stuff, Fire Prism/Wraithlord/Fire Dragons and the list goes on.
Welcome to LO and to the Eldar.
3 walkers is a great asset in almost any kind of force. They have a lot of synergy with both of your HQ choices;
I like to field them with shuriken catapults, they become so cheap that it allows me to expand more on the rest of my force. I never found them to be that amazing at getting big vehicles destroyed, their main strength is shots per point value. They excel at horde/light tank popping, maybe tying a platoon in an assault if you are desperate, but paying for EML on BS3 is a bit too much, Wave serpents do a better job with that, its twin-linked!
For your second troops choice I highly recommend a squad of dire avengers in a serpent. Not only it is a very cheap unit, but it can fill almost any role in your army, save anti-tank, and survive to tell the tale.
Keep posting with your progress!
hmm well personally I run with a wraithsword and EML and two flamers, this is not a setup that will suit what you need, If you're looking for an anti armour WL I suggest making use of the BS4 that you get, so either a bright lance and EML or alternatively two Bright lances would be cool as they count as twin linked if you have two of the same heavy weapon.
