Welcome to Librarium Online!
Rules and model are up on forgeworld. At first glance, I might love it. If I still feel that way tomorrow morning I'll order two.
That model is really nice. The gang at Forgeworld definitely got the "speedy & spiky" thing down.
Also intrigued by the Haywire Cannon. Haywire pie plate or install-kill single shot? Could be yummy!!
The model is pretty, I like the sails, but the rules are rubbish.
Vehicles are too big to really make a pie plate a good weapon to use against them. Your opponent is going to have to be painfully stupid to allow you to get more than one hit per shot.
The d3 shots is better but when I see variable shots I read it as "1". I'd rather have the reliability of 5 scourges with 2 haywire blasters. The maximum damage is less but they are more reliable.
It's not that the unit is awful but I'd rather it used hellhound rules and had the projected teardrop template with maybe an 18 inch reach. At least then you makes it harder to space out vehicles to deny multi-hits. As it stands I think you will almost always use the d3 shots. It's just better in 90% of situations.

Indeed the model is awesome but I totally agree rules wise with Korona. I'd rather have my normal ravager with 3 DL than the storm vortex. The only use i see for the storm vortex is maybe the pie plate for AI, but Dark Eldar don't need that cause we have enough AI.
Fair points, Korona. The HW blast could be alot of fun against vehicle squadrons <<evil grin>>.
But that utility is going to vary greatly depending on your opponent makeup. You're facing Piranhas, Sentinels, and Warwalkers...woohoo!
Outside of that, you're right, you're pretty much getting single-shot function on anything Rhino sized or larger.
But the blast is still S5 AP4. Not bad against rank and file. Though I would make the argument you are then paying a premium for the HW capability, and if you want to plate infantry, the Razorwing is going to overall perform better in that role with monoscythes and dissies.
With so many of the FW kits, this seems to be another example of an incredible looking sculpt with a unclear niche to fill within the existing army list... :-(
What I want to point out about the blast is that unlike direct fire weapons, the blast will almost always hit something. It sucks when both of your haywire scourges miss.
And then there's tau and IG.
Also the beam version has a high enough strength value to hurt all by itself without the haywire effect.
The downside I see is that With only one weapon, a weapon destroyed result renders this useless instead of just 2/3 capable. it makes a shock prow pretty much mandatory.
the d3 profile also has the advantage of being s7, so against lightly armored vehicles it can also glance/pen with the S of the shot.
Either way I ordered 2. I'll probably only use one in friendly games as they probably won't be allowed in tournament play. The second one is for Apoc.
You could use it as a counts-as ravager for games where forgeworld rules aren't allowed.

I probably could. I'm not two worried. I have 2 ravagers and ordered 2 reapers and 2 razorwings reserved for when I make it to the shop. I just have a bunch to build and paint.Originally Posted by Korona
