Here are two necron destroyer lords I just finished today. The gold one is a pretty standard paint scheme, I got tired of just painting everything metal and old looking, let me know what you think. I am very new to the game and painting miniatures, any and all comments/criticisms are welcome.
No need to paint metal in metallic colours. It's a mistake that many make when starting. Necrons lend themselves to just as many colour schemes as other races.
I think i prefer your colour scheme on the green Lord, although they are both good. The mix of green/gold works well, and i like the gold breastplate/ribcage over dark silver "guts".
Q: Is the slightly mottled effect on the green Lord deliberate or as a result of the painting technique? It looks a little like marble the way it has finished.
There are three types of people in this world -- those who can count, and those who cannot.
The green one looks better definitely. I'm assuming you did the green effect in a similar way to how I paint my crons' red by black washing it to mottle the colour then glossing it?
Ye Old Necrons (R.I.P.) (7000pts) W52 D5 L9
New Crons!!! (5000pts) W1 D1 L1
Blood Angels (2500pts) W4 D0 L1
hey guys, thank you for the replies. For the green lord I based him in chaos black and then dark angel green, applied a watery mix of goblin/dark angel green, a watery mix goblin/snot green, and finally a watery mix of snot green and white. Then I finished it off with a thraka green wash. After that I ever so lightly dry brushed a
few flecks of burnishing gold. And then sprayed it all down with a gloss varnish.
Ha, well I have been doing A LOT of research online, looking at painting guides, and watching as many videos as possible

Though the gold one looks more Necron-y, I really love that shade of green. Again, don't feel like you have to paint all your Necrons metallic, sometimes other colors work fine as well.
