Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello all. I am wondering, since I see no Tau other than my own, what other people's colour schemes are. I was going to post a poll, but I feel it would be restrictive of people's choices. Any reasoning or fluff would be nice, but I am mainly after what your colours are, i.e. Main (armour), secondary (fatigues), accents (other, for instance weapon) and what colour/wash you have in the lines.
my army is painted in a traditional forest theme, with greens, browns and blacks. my kroot are almost ork-like in colouring, with red quills, and i have two squads of vespid both in black, 1 unit with blood red extreme edge highlighted, the other with scorpion green, both quite stricking colour schemes. my hammerhead is in my profile pic!
My Tau are my first army, so it's Chaos Black for the main colour. Scab Red for fatigues, Astronomicon Grey for the weapons. All washed over with Badab Black. Some of the symbols are Mechrite or Blood Red

Ordo Corvus Witch Hunters: Only in our flames will the heretic find peace!
Cool cool. I suppose I should post mine too; it's graveyard earth armour, scorched brown fatigues and dark flesh accents. Also, out of interest, what colour do you guys do your eyes/lenses and plasma/pulse weaponry, if any?

Well as I am currently going to begin working on my tau again, I guess I should say how mine look.
First it is like commander farsight's enclave color scheme wise, but I would never field him, so base armour is a red, their fatigues are black, just like their guns, thier lens are a dark green and all of the lines for the symbols and lines on the rifles are silver.
Then my kroot right now look like humans wearing black bodysuits, and orange Halloween masks.
My hammerhead is straight black, but the lines in the armour are the same red as the fire warriors, and my devilfish is a reverse scheme of the hammerhead.
Sadly, my crisis and stealth suits are still only their base black. Hoping to do the armour the same red as the fire warriors, with silver for the detail and lines in between the armour plating.

speak out and remove all doubt.

Well, my Tau are basecoated Black, which I then paint over with Regal Blue. Any extra things, like the centers of the shoulders and a few other small plates I paint scab red over the Black. The color I have in the lines is, well, black. I make sure to not get any paint in the lines so I don't have to go back and highlight the models. My plasma weapons are painted with the plasma showing as light blue, weapon casings are all regal blue, and missile tips are scab red. I paint eyes blood red.
I'll post a picture of my piranha (its my best one, I think) when I get home later.
Tau Empire: We never stop hiding from you
Scaly green (OOP Citadel color) over skull white, with scab red accents, with exceptions. Pathfinders are khaki and grey under the scaly green, broadsides are scaly green and scab red with skull white accents...and stealthed stuff (shadowsun excepted) is completely different: DA green with angular pattern outlined in shadow grey, then with a thinner black line down the middle of the grey, then washed with sepia. In spite of the variety, it all ties together pretty well...the crisis suits and skimmers are primarily white, the broadsides are primarily green, the stealths have a good excuse for looking different, but the scaly green that's found on all the models (the fire warriors end up being about half green and half white) ties the army together.
/edit/ Forgot to mention...white looks AWESOME....but fugeddaboudit, if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with a different color scheme...the white is WAY too hard to get even coverage, and shows smudges from other paint, not to mention dirt and dust, way too well!

My army follows the Vior'la colour scheme (cream guys). Its pretty basic, spray black then pain bleached bone on the armour, should pads, gun. The cloth I paint orkhide shade then paint catachan green over that. The cast symbol is just blood red then the whole model gets washed develan mud .
One shall stand, and one shall fall.
I'm a shitty artist so I designed my color scheme with that in mind. My Tau are a group of raiders who have turned from the greater good for the sake of looting and pillaging. They receive a base coat of white, painted over with blood red with black weapons and logos. It looks rough and makeshift, but that is exactly how I want it to look. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/118474/Devpir.jpg Color scheme and logo are blatantly stolen from the Blood Eagle tribe from Starsiege: Tribes.
My tau are based upon japanese especially as tau remind me of them so much! They have skull white armour with dark grey (50:50 codex grey chaos black) recesses, the sept colour is red and in certain areas i have a regal blue and codex grey urban camo scheme. the guns are white with some grey and red sept colours going up it. On some larger models like battlesuits (won't do it for my devilfish, they use car washes reguarly) i use light chaos black on a sponge or stippling brush to create an explosion residue from tanks due to their fusionblasters or something similar just break up the constant white colour scheme
