i have recently nocticed that my nids are getting a bit tatty  so i decided to repaint them:-
bleached bone for the limbs and for the armour plates black with red gore and dark angels green spots (carnifex has blood red and goblin green spots)
or bleached bone limbs and black and yellow stripes on the armour plates
here are the pics
spotted fex: http://tinypic.com/crotv
ready to finish tyrant: http://tinypic.com/crout
wasp gaunt with hive node: http://tinypic.com/crord
umm... my favourite one was the stripey one, but trust me, an entire army like this would look stupid, so try something a bit more tyranididsh like black bodies dipped in red, then black armour plates drybrushed codex grey, that looks good in my noggin anyway! oh, and my m8 likes the stripey ones but not your photo taking skills!!! adios!
if you are reading this signature, then you are wasting you're time, and i am wasting my time by writing it, so run along now, jimmy, run along.
lol, my web cam was not working so i had to use my phone to take the pics lol; red dry brushed in codex grey is that like the ones in the nid codex?
The spots look bad, it makes the carnifex look like some kind of giant walking christmas tree. The wasp one looks ok, but maybe just stick with the bodies black and the yellow stripes on the carapace, with maybe a yellow stripe head or something.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

that what i mean't stripes over the plates.....you should see my armie....look in the armie list channel they are all painted like my fex lol
Go for two matching colours (light and dark). Use one paint on one area (not dotting or striping). I find natural colours the best (like two variants of brown) since this gives the more 'fierce' and 'animal' look.
Yeah, I agree that the spots don't look that good. And a black carapace doesn't look that finished.

A wasp-like paint sounds really cool and original.
