Will we ever get our 2nd wave???

So, i am sure by now that most if not all of you will have at some point heard rumours of a Tyranids second wave. most of these rumours seem to go along with the rumour for "Summer of Fliers" which we now know isn't happening but there are still rumours pointing towards them being released in the fall but will these hold true or will we be left wanting for another year?

if anyone here knows anything different or has any updated info then please share as apart from rumours the Nids have been Dead since the initial release (in terms of model releases anyway) and its about time that changed!

GW may say to just convert models for things such as the Tervigon and Tyrannofex and that was ok for a while but its about time we started to see official kits considdering that they are two of the most used units in the codex (judging by how many people have tried converting them anyway). yes converted models are unique, and dont get me wrong as i like converting models and have done so on many occasions, but there is just something about official models that a converted one doesnt quite get right.

some of you may dissagree, but i know that alot of people want official models and i dont blame them. i have seen alot of conversions for the missing Tyranid units...some are good...some are terrible but with the kits that GW have been releasing lately, there is NO excuse as to why we havent got those other models yet.

GW doesnt seem to realise that they are actually losing money by not having official kits as most people either Scratch build their own, buy off Ebay or Chapterhouse or combinations of both and none of the money spent goes to GW.

we will have to see what comes of the next few months but at the moment the Necrons are favourite for October...lets hope they are wrong...

We wont be having a second wave for a very long time. As far as GW seems to be concerned the nids are the ginger stepchild of 5th. We've had our book so we should go and sit in a corner and amuse ourselves quietly, staying out of everyone's way. We got nothing from spearhead (heck even the dedicated MC formation was useless for us!) and our player base isnt big enough to warrant a second wave, no matter how badly we might need some of the models. Dont forget right when we were released GW said to combine the carnifex and trygon kits to make the missing beastys, so it didnt seem like we were that important even then.

Rumours have even being going around saying last christmas for ages. In the long and the short of it, unless its tied up as part of a bigger release (and to be honest I hadnt heard about summer of fliers, and id be very surprised if we got it then. Sounds like wishlisting to me, especially with GW's recent rumour crackdown) we wont be getting a second wave any time soon. Plus with crons coming out very soon, I would imagine they'd be higher up for a second wave than us.

I think that every tyranid player out there knows what happens with new models when they are carried in on a new dex like 5th. They either release them when the dex drops or announce that they will be coming before the next new dex in the line that drops. With the coming and going of the blood angels, spac marines, dark eldar, grey knights and the new crons sometime in the near future, I think we have buckleys of ever seeing new models till 6th ed comes out, and with the current trend of the game (price hikes on models and specialised armies [ie. non mech] becoming more obsolete), unless a nid player somehow becomes the CEO of GW and then says "NEW NID MODELS!!!", then I wouldn't be holding my breath unless you wanted to hold a guiness world record for the next million years.

well there are plenty of rumours floating round, one of the more recent stating that it was put on hold due to the Finecast update meaning they had to overhaul them because they were done in metal (and by they i mean the Parasite of Mortrex and Doom of Malan'tai and i think Ymgarl Genestealers aswell) but it is a case of waiting and hoping for the best at the moment...

I'm sure the ymgarl genies were just written in to the codex as a unit because they got rid of feeder tendrils (which everyone had I'm sure) and needed a unit to be represented by these models. I can't see a kit being released for them anytime. As for the others, I'd love to see the rumoured Tervigon/Trannyfex plastic kit released soon as I'm more inclined to use official kits too

These rumors have been around since February, and with the Necrons being release at the end of this year, I don't think we'll be seeing any Nids til next.
