    New to the Pointy Ears

    Hi guys,
    I am a former sister's player....yes i know, i couldnt have picked a more different army.
    But that's why i picked them, because they're completly different.
    I have in my posession the following:

    ---> Dark Eldar Archon
    ---> Dark Eldar Battlefrce
    ---> Dark Eldar Raider
    ---> Dark Eldar Scourges

    Any advice on a decent army, choices and tactics would be highly appretiated.
    I will happily one day return the favour

    Taz

    The 11th Company is a really good strategy and tactics podcast:

    There's a mix of interviews with competitive players and some listbuilding ideas. They cover a lot of the strengths and weaknesses of the list. Also the BoLS guys had quite a few Dark Eldar battle reports which you can check on youtube.

    Right now you have a lot of different ways you can take your army so I think the best option is to hear some different ideas on what's competitive, then decide what bits you like and where you want to go with it all.

    Thanks man.
    I know i can convert the warriors that are hanging of the raiders into true-borns.
    this then increases the amount of units and points.
    Im just worried im going to play the dark eldar like the sisters.

    I haven't really had a lot of game time with my Dark kin. I'm more of a painter / collector. But the feeling I've got is that you can build almost any list you want to and still be reasonably effective. Naturally, you'll need certain things like a good amount of AA, but as long as you cover that, you can go for almost any kind of combination. So I'd really recommend you to go for things that you find cool. Myself I've got a little bit of everything, with a focus on the wych cult.

    the archon is a good buy. give him an Agoniser and he ignores armour and wounds on a 4+ OR a (my fav) Huskblade (he comes with it) and a soul trap. watch out enemy HQ's.......

    Battleforec is another good buy
    as is Scourges as they can be AI (anti Infantry) or AT (anti tank)
    Raider gives both your Battleforce units (Warriors and Wyches) transpots so all in all it sounds simmilar to the Red Grief (especcially if you use the Jetbikes.....)

    I'd get a codex as your next purchase and just read over it as you paint.

    As for a full list, it's a good start but it's a bit minimal, what kind of points do people in your area play to? You might be able to squeeze out a 1000 point list...

    I didnt mention it before. I have the codex and i have started to paint.
    I have a really nice scheme in my own opinion and the other dark eldar player at my club.
    I am just unsure on what wargear is the best and most effective and on your opinions to base a different army and playing sport...

    What is good is really dependant upon your playing style. I've had success with the following:

    ---> Dark Eldar Archon

    I tend to put him with assault troops. If you're fighting an army with loads of multiple wound creatures, try him with a Husk Blade. If the army is predominantly single wound, I tend to take an agoniser.

    ---> Dark Eldar Battlefrce
    Warriors: I tend to take Blasters instead of Dark Lances. They don't have the range, but they keep your units mobile.
    Wyches: A Hekatrix with an agoniser is a must. The only wych weapon I'v had success with is the Hydra Gauntlet. I frequently take Wyches as an Elite choice so that I can take more gauntlets. If you can buy one, get a Haemonculus (Give hinm a liquifier) and put the Wyches, the Haemonculus and the Archon on a raider with Enhanced Aethersails and fly it as fast as possible into the heart of the enemy.The Flat Out cover save of the Raider means they will absorb fire (Allowing the rest of your army to advance) before blowing up. Then, with FNP from the Haemonculus, your Wyches stand a very good chance of surviving when the Raider explodes. On your second turn , assault the nearest appropriate unit unit and enjoy the carnage. :-D

    ---> Dark Eldar Raider
    See the Wych entry above.

    ---> Dark Eldar Scourges
    These make great Anti-Tank units if you equip them with Haywire Blasters.
