Welcome to Librarium Online!
Did anyone pick up IAA 2nd Edition at Gamesday or get a chacne to look at our flyers? Did any of the rules change for them ie the Manta?
i havent had the chance yet but i will definetley give it a look....anyway who in their right mind would buy a manta??? not to mention the price but its the size of a freakin gaming board!
It was designed in 4th ed when you could only glance fast moving skimmers/flyers and then in 5th it got a 4+ cover save for being a flyer, but it already had a 4+ invul so it lost a lot of survivability. I was curious to see if they did anything to address this in the new edition. I doubt they did, but I figured I would ask. Do you actually have a copy of it or are you saying you will search the webs?
I havent seen anything about it elsewhere but most people overlook tau and especially the manta so i figured I would ask here.
this is all ive been able to find, unfortunatly it doesn't include rules/pt costs but it had lists for every army in the book so im guessing a legite source.

I don't really see anything in their table of contents that looks new. Anyone see a reason for actually getting this?
And I know on Dakka Dakka they have a very detailed guide on how to make a manta from stryofoam. When he finished the paint job I had a hard time believing it wasn't real at first.
Well yeah there are no new models. From what I hear there aren't going to be any new models for Tau from FW for a while now. That is why I am asking anyone that might have seen the book at gamesday or bought it there, if the rules are different on any of them.
Are you referring to the guy that painted the ridiculous galaxy scenes on his Superheavies? If so I have seen those models in person and I think most people are going to be hard pressed to put the same amount of effort and level of detail into it that he did. So I doubt that replicas like his are going to be coming out of the woodwork. But with the cost of the actual model and his detailed tutorial there is at least a better chance of people having one of these that wouldn't have one otherwise.
Ok so a friend of mine got the book. Apparently the 16 long barreled burst cannons are now BS4 instead of BS2, the Twin linked Heavy rail gun has changed to two heavy rail guns, and they messed with the cargo so it can hold 155 in the bottom instead of just 140.
Great. Now I need to go get five pounds of foam.
Notice any other changes? I'm really close to breaking and buying a tigershark.
My friends didnt tell me anything about the tiger shark. I have two of them and I am a fan. One other change was that the remoras were apparently changed as well. He said there price was increased to 112 and that they can be put into a squad of 5 and used in a normal Tau army. He didnt get more specific than that, but I would assume that they would be a fast skimmer choice in the fast attack slot. Not necessarily a better choice than a piranha, but it provides something different. Twinlinked 36" range burst cannons, a marker light, 2 seeker missiles and the stealth armor. They would certainly be viable from a further range than piranhas.
Yes I realize that people still have issues playing against FW stuff in standard 40k games, but this could be a sign of the future codex.
