Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just wanted know, how well does Eldar fair against the Grey Knights? i heard that their 'Runes Of Warding' are not bad against them.
I play both Eldar and Grey Knights but never have I ofught against one with the other but I can assure you that Runes of Warding will be a major hassel for the Grey Knights if their wanting to use their wide array of psychic powers. The biggest issue with the Grey Knights will be their Librarians psychic hoods, dreadnoughts reinforced Ageis (When casting doom but Runes of Witnessing will help alot!), Psykout Grenades.
The biggest pain to our tanks will be psyrifle Dreads. Which if your unfamiliar with the term is a dreadnought armed with 2 twin linked autocannons that are S8! 135 pts for a model that throws out 4 TL S8 48" ranged shots at Eldar Wave Serpents. Ouch.
All in all I don't think either army will have a major advantage over the other, Grey knights with those psyrilfe dreads will eat Eldar tanks never mind the sheer amount of psycannons that they can have, but Runes of warding will seriously hamper Grey Knight Psychic spells. Those I think are the two biggest factors.
Do they have to test to throw those gernades??
Psykout Grenades - Reverts any psyker or demon to I1 in the first round of assault.
Rad grenades - -1 Toughness in first round of assault.
Psychotroke Grenades - Random effect in first round of assault. Roll a D6 to determine results. There are some doozys.
Empyrean Brain Mines - A single model in base contact must pass an initative test or is unable to attack that turn.
Blind Grenades - Defensive Grenades.
They also come standard with Frag and krak grenades. Standard GKs also come standard with psykout grenades, all the others are upgrades. Please note due to FAQ a model armed with multiple types of grenades can activate them ALL at the same time, no tests required.
Just got a match up with GK at 1500 pts, total win!
They have hood of 24" only, we have RoW of infinite range!
Yes, I got nullified the doom and guiding when they came close and disimbark from immobilized Stormraven.
The librarian and the terminators are in same team, got assaulted by my group of 8 Harlies
Librarian hammerhand failed
Might of Titan failed and suffered perils
Termies leader hammerhand fail and suffer perils and died
Then I7 crazy harlies hit before their long stick (I6)
After kissed them, nothing's left except a running scared librarian
So if you gonna use Farseer, RoW is a must buy AND you will be very happy when you look at the worrying face of your GK opponent^^
Row is a must in all eldar lists except double autarch ones. Against good GK lists it will all depend of you can kill fast the dreads. If not he can laught while you lose all teh tanks and get footdar against psycannons.
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
TBH, I've never really...feared, fighting Eldar as GK. They don't *need* to use their powers against Eldar, it's just nice to have. I run a Storm-Raven list (two, to be precise). Public enemy number one is a Farseer. It's easy to pop the transport they're in and drop mindstrike missiles on him, forcing...a lot of perils tests.
Drop thier Riflemen and GKs have to move up, unless they're highly mechanized. Lots of razorbacks, dreds, can put the hurt on transports. Target priority. If you're on foot, GKs will win, if you can stay Mechanized, GK will lose. It's a fragile balance, just like any other Eldar fight.
The really good advantage of GK armoured transport: Fortitude, and It is very tempting to use^^
Actually, you can fire the 4 mindstrikes after moving 12 inches. Remember: The storm raven is a fast vehicle.
My standard Storm Raven consists of a TL-Multi Melta,TL-Assault Cannon, Hurricane Bolters, and it's 4 Mindstrikes. I can move 12 inches and fire everything. 12 Inch Move, Multi-Melta. Power of the Machine Spirit the Assault Cannon, hurricane bolters are defensive weapons, fire all those, and then fire all the mindstrikes.
After all that's done, even with the ghost helm, the mindstrikes still dish out wounds that need to be saved, on top of the hurricane bolters (usually 12 shots), the multi-melta, and the assault cannon. I too, think it's acceptable if the Farseer dies to this.
