I'm thinking about working on my Ork stuff so that I can actually play games higher than 500ish points and I wanted a little advice/input/know-wotz on some units:
Burnas - They any good? How many do you usually take as an effective group? (I assume they'll probably want a Trukk)
Deffkoptas: got 6 of the AOBR ones, are they good for semi-competitive/fun play enviornments?
Ghazzy: What list types does he ususally work well with? What points level would you take him?
Thanks in advance!
Burnaz are the bees knees mate, but yeah, they do really need a wagon for them to be super effective.
Anywhere from 10-12 in an LW, or 10-15 in a BW, and just drive up to a unit and place one flamer. You then times the number of flammeh hits with the number of burnaz and FWOOSH.
You can't sadly give them a trukk to start off with, but they can of course use them once the game kicks off.
Deff koptas I think are the underdog of the Ork list. They can be good, but then in other times they can just down right suck. I wouldn't ever just have one unit of these, and nor would I rely on out flanking with them.
If you want an outflanking unit to badger near edge baddies, I would normally suggest Snik and as many Kommandos as you can get, but thats just me.
As for Deff Koptas, I would go for units of one to two models, purely for the fact that if one dies, the other can still rally, but at Ld7, its wishful thinking most of the time, but certainly doable.
They can be fun to use tho... but generally, I think points can be better spent elsewhere... this of course, highly depends on your list though, and whether or not Koptas would add anything to it.
Ah, Gazza... like Marmite.. you either love him or hate him.... which is odd, cause I like marmite, but hate him.
I've never played with Gazza, despite having the model for it, but from what I can tell, he tends to work in nob, boyz heavy lists... though I could be wrong, since I don't play him. Ever. So..
I have seen him in lists of 1.5k and up, so I would say thats about your mark really.
I generally wouldn't take him in anything less than 2k tbh, but again, thats just me. I think his points cost can generally be better spent better elsewhere.
Didn't realize that about Burna Boyz and trukks but that's good to know!
I'll give Koptas a try and see how they perform for me.
About what I thought w/ Ghazzy so once I get up to 1.5K-2K i'll see how he works out.
Burna boyz or AWESOME put them in a LW with a Skorha...10 Burna templates and 1 skorcha template say bye bye to just about everything your are killing. If you going against other Orks or another horde list. Pretty much say bye bye. Only truly failed me once, I hit 99, but with them being Death Company only a few actually died.
As already mentioned before Burna Boyz are AWESOME there is no need to roll for their bs just use the template & roll to wound & i would also run a squad of 10-12 Burna Boyz in a Battle Wagon & if assault with them (if you never shot first in the shooting phase), they can use their Burnas as power weapons
The Deffkoptaz i've used them a couple of times they're not bad... sometimes although they CAN have twin-linked big shootas or rokkit launchas 7 they can be equipped with power klawz it can be a bit pricey though.
As for the Big Ork Ghazghkull Thraka i've used him quite a bit & he's a monster lol, it's better if he runs with a squad of Nobs or Meganobs with a normal WAAAGH! you have to roll a dice to see how far your units can go but with Ghazzys WAAARGH! it's an automatic 6 inches for all your units (infantry), his 2+ armor save becomes invulnerable & i'm pretty sure 'if he gets the charge' he has 7 to 8 strength 10 power klaw hits which lasts your turn & his turn hehe!
I was able to take out both Abaddon & Kharn with Ghazghkull hehe hope that helps

Hrm. All of this sounds good. I'll see about getting a second box of Burnas (really like those models ) and Ghazzy for xmas...
now to just paint many, many boyz lol
Hehe, I don't envy you having to paint that many boyz.
I still have loads to paint myself. x_X
If you have anymore questions about Orkz, feel free to post a new topic. \o/
I love deffkoptas and field them in every list. they will either kill a couple of tanks in the first turn (or take of a weapon etc) or they will die but in dieing they will take most of the enemies fire.
Use their scout move to turbo boost first turn and then shoot and assult a veh (with buzzsaw) or watch as the enemy tries to kill them.
With shooting and a 3+ cover say from going flat out the S8+ weapons have to be lucky to kill you and the other weapons which have more shots tend to just take of a wound.
Now since i dont use any other FA i have 3 units of 1 deffkopta and find 1-2 of the (in some games even 3 when they give up after a few shots) deffkoptas survive their shooting to do their stuff (if i dont get first turn).
so either your enemy puts all their shooting into them and the rest of your army gets closer or they ignore them and learn a lesson.
please note out of the 3 i would have buzzsaws on only 2 of them to save points (the 3rd tends to earn its points back or they shoot it forgetting it is not as dangerous in CC)
