Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just read Rkikmarus tactica on Tau, and saw that the sub-munition doesnt scatter, really? this doesnt scatter?
PLEASE tell this is true, and why?
I am not sure which one you were reading, but according to his Tau Vehicle topic, is does scatter. You can of course, use Marker Lights to up BS tho."The round now scatters using the normal scatter rules Any scatter is reduced by the ballistic skill value of the Hammerhead. As an example if you rolled 7 on the two D6 the shot would scatter 3 (7 – BS4) in the direction of the arrow on the scatter dice."

this is what i thought it was on the first page about the "Tau Weapons", i wasnt going to read 3 pages to see if this was changed.....thanks anyway
You could...but if you're dropping a submunition, it's probably on a not-ITP unit...so you'd be better off (thinking in terms of pathfinder squads) dropping their LD by four points so they virtually auto-break...or eliminating their cover save if one applies...there's almost always a better way to use those markerlight hits than reducing scatter on a pieplate...like increasing the BS of a different unit that's also targeting the recipient of the pieplate lovin'
IG since 1999 __ DA since 2002 __ Tau since 2005 __ SoB since 2007

Yeah, i would never use my markerlights to improve a scatter, i might be a noob tau players, but hey, i wouldnt een do it if they were marines., im most likely only playing marines so auto-breaking them really is a big + either since they just turn back around. having BS 5\6 plasma rifles.....now theres an idea
Fortuneatly for me my sub rarely scatters far and i use markerlights to reduce coversave as im often firing it at firewarriors (last two games ive used my Tau have been upagainst a fellow Tau player who hates the fact that he rolls 2s and 3s to shoot while most of mine hit on 4s, lol).
Tau v Tau matchups? That's something you don't see a lot of anymore!
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

The first codex stated that the large blast was used only to indicate the number of models covered and it was not a blast/ordnance weapon. We never rolled scatter using both codex's until the 5th edition and I still to this day stand by my assertion that subs does not and should not scatter and it is NOT a blast weapon (just as it was always played for years pre 5th).
I play using the scatter because the majority of players are sheep who go along with what the majority of others decide (yes six that includes you) and I do not fancy arguing every time I use the subs, so I roll scatter to keep the peace but I will always argue that subs are not scatter weapons.
By the way six this assumption that subs scatter is based on one photograph in the codex showing a Hammerhead targeting some stealers which to me is a bloody weak argument because you can bet your ass that the HH photo was a stock photo and GW are renowned for their lax rules writing and lack of proof reading. You can bet your ass a second time that the person who put that page/photo together did not know the existing long used non scatter rules for subs. Oh and what rules are you saying trumped me, I would be interested to see them.
I'm a totally new player and I picked up both the current codex and the current rulebook. They are stand alone books. I don't have the knowledge of previous editions to go off of. When I read it for the current edition I can see no reason why it would not scatter. If it wasn't meant to scatter I'm sure it would have been mentioned specifically or brought up in an FAQ.
