Due to my first tyrannic miniature purchase beeing a Carnifex, and not a codex, I confused the barbed strangler with the venom cannon (the small sac on the other arm looked like a venom sac to me then), and glued it on the Carnifex. This practice I've upheld on the Hive Tyrant and the Warriors, due to the fact that I've come to like the model more, especially if you drill a hole into the barrel, almost as wide as the barrel itself. Now, my question is, do you find this acceptable behaviour, or do I need to switch to the silly looking stick with "bayonettes" on it?
You should change a couple of other things on it to make sure it isn't a barbed strangler, but personally if you told me before the battle what it really was and it was written that way on your army list I wouldn't mind if you used rending claws as a venom cannon!
Shouldn't be any problem with other players as long as you make sure you tell them what is represents.
And just as Stewart already mentioned, try to make it a look a bit different than the normal barbed strangler
i use a extended carapace the spiky one for a impklant attack and a extended carapace and my friend dosnt mind so yes that should be fine
And when he gets to heaven,
to Saint Peter he will tell.
"One more soldier reporting,sir
I've served my time in hell."

If You'd convert all of Your VCannons from BStranglers this way so that all "VCannons" look identical, I'd have no problem with it.
Of course, they should also look clearly different from any BStranglers You might field.
Essentially, as long as the conversion can't be confused with anything else on table it should be ok and qualify for WYSIWYG purposes.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
Yeah, so long as you tell me what it is when you set it up and it looks a decent amount different than the barbed strangler I'd have no problem. But all your Venom Cannons would have to be done like that. And any model with one of those couldn't be used as an actual Barbed Strangler. That's just me though
No, I don't use stranglers in my army (I used to, but then it was just a switch-around, making the barbed (got caught up in the barb on the tip of the barb..erm, venom cannon, and the venom sac on the v...argh!
Would love to see them fully convert post some picture if you can, and i wouldn't mind as long as i was told before the game.
If it lives it will be consumed
well, I'll post some pics of the Carnifex when it's done. making two str...venom cannons, one on each side, and as they're both right handed I've some converting to do...
