Welcome to Librarium Online!
Now I've already been told not to take this guy but you see I can't help my self. I'm a fluff hound and my conscious tells me I must take 'em. Now that we've got that squared away, I'm wondering what you guys think is the most efficient court to take with him. Lhamaeans look pretty useless so flood up on the other three... who knows maybe I'm headed in the wrong direction.
What's the best loadout?
What's best playstyle and tactics, thanks.
I thought I was smart, but apparently people don't like to take advice from beggars...
All the members of the court are actually really good. If i remember correctly the Lhamean is one of the better of the bunch as well, with one of the highest number of inflicted wounds across all different T. So don't rule the Lhamean out. For a court of 9 I would probably go with:
You could always try to swap out the Lhameans for more Urghuls if you prefer. And perhaps one Medusae is enough, but 2 Medusae coupled with Asdrubael's own shooting can be very crippling for an enemy unit, perhaps too crippling in some cases.
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
well vect is a beast when he works he wrecks its just his price tag is a bit much but that doesnt mean he is bad, the court is however if you need a pimp squad for vect then incubi/wyches are prob best, a player at my group swears by sticking him with carbine trueborn and i have seen them gun down a gk termy squad in a single phase (orbs of anything are scary in 40k)
his dais however ... yeah kinda sucks but then it is a av13 ravager so i dunno its tag is greatly overcosted but it is the only way to get 4 ravagers in 1 org chart

I found the best way to play vect is with a squad of wracks in a raider. You get across the board quick and even quicker with sails if you want. This setup gives Vect FNP from the get go which is great. Plus your enemy is shooting against T4 since that's the majority of the squad. It really complements Vect well since the squad is cheap to build point wise and is meant for CC.
If you were building for fluff then i would just give Vect lots of concubines
We've gone over this before in another thread. The Lhamaen is actually one of the sleeper units, it actually does it's job fairly well. The Medusae likewise can get overshadowed because when you look at Vecht you think of CC ability. However, with Gray Knights pretty much polluting the metagame these days it never hurts to have a little oomf in your shooting before charing in and being psytroked into helplessness. So I typically load up on Medusae, Lhamaens and Slyth, to the limits i'm allowed. Ur-Ghouls are just... ok to me, not the best, not the worst. They only do one thing, and i'm not sold on that. Vect has a decent shooting weapon himself, so it adds up.
Stab it, slash it, bite, tank shock and smash it. If that fails, shoot it.
vect is a great character.
the problem with vect and all of our special characters for that matter is getting them across the board in flimsy raiders, so DE players tend to avoid 500pt hammer units, hence no vect. If you do like him i would advise on grotesques and as someone mentioned before wracks, for the FNP and toughness, other wise you will need a heamonculi for Vect to join wyches and incubi, even more points spent for that valuable FNP.
He's a bad ass in HTH, Vect can pretty much kill a squad himself, i think he's the best character in 40k as long as his shadowfield holds, he's designed to kill any character before they get a chance to strike back.
the calculations for the court was done before there is no real bad egg of the group point for point everyone was costed just about right, I would point out that the different combinations give different flavours to the court, changing how they should be used, they all have different abilities. From what i can see the court has 3 different flavours and you can have a mix of each, meat shield, shooty or HTH focused, the vriations are only slightly different, but if you examine them closely it changes how they play.
HTH option is debatable whether you take more slyth or more urghuls, you dont really get the benefit's of T5 with slyth until your squad is half dead, you do gain 3 shots with shard carbine for each slyth, an extra attack for CCW, +1 str and 2 W's compared with urghuls, Basically without going too much into this, points to spare is the real decider, if you have them get the slyth's, otherwise keep it cheap.
How i would run Vect.
4 grotesques + upgrades(liquifier, abberation, flesh gauntlet)
495 pts, yikes!!! but almost guaranteed first turn, so you can zoom up the board first turn then unleash the beast turn 2, giving your opponent litle time to react.
while i was writing this i had an idea of pairing Vect with lady malys, effectively messing with your opponents deployment, redeploy and hit him where he/she are weakest, this army would be expensive, it relies on hammer units and dictating how the game plays, though it sounds like it could be fun to play.

If you're always worried about crushing the ants beneath you...you won't be able to walk.
i understand where you are coming from stop the pope...
i always run vect, and lately its been with a 9 strong incubi squad in a raider (with enhanced aethersails).
the results have been varied, from vect with 7 pain tokens and stripped of his bodyguard... to the squad just finishing off a GK terminator squad or two.
i say use him... your opponents face is priceless when you roll a 5 to seize the initiative, and you tell them "yeah Vect, he does that"
with vect: (1/2 * 5/6) + (1/2 *1/2) = 2/3
(pr winning initial roll * pr opponent doesnt seize) + (pr losing initial roll * pr vect seizes)
Think about it this way; vect is only in a position to help you half the time, and then he only helps you 1/3 of the time (on a roll of 4 or 5 to seize. 6's you'd seize without vect)
and 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6
You could go an entire tournament without any vect seize hotness. Vect will seize one time in every two three game tournaments.
Maybe take vect for a different reason. The fourth ravager (or three ravagers and a razorwing) seems cool.
Just some thoughts.
