    Transdimensional beamer, useless?

So I was going through setting up my wraiths to kit them as different as possible for wound allocation...and Transdimensional beamer is an option. But it says HEAVY 1, uhm really? That means the Wraiths cannot move and shoot that weapon? What a useless weapon. Heck, what a useless weapon for ANY squad/IC. 12" range and now you're standing close enough to be assaulted?

Am I missing something, who or what has relentless, etc. Reading through the codex still (man sooo many options, blows my mind).

TOTALLY missed that, thanks! Looks like only overlord and the one Named IC can have phaeron? Not regular lords, etc?

It does look this way. Since I recon only wraiths can have that weapon and the unlikeliness of them running along a phaeron due to it's slow speed, I come to the conclusion that this pistol is a very bad choice except for wound allocation shenanigans(sp?). There it that special mutating character which has it too, so you could put him in a unit with a phaeron.

I believe that wraiths are jump infantry so automatically have the relentless USR.

They are jump infantry like space marine assault squads, not like tau battlesuits, so don't have relentless, afaik. You need a special flying module(or however it's called, my rulebook is not in english) for that.

No, "Jet" infantry have relentless (tau crisis suits) "Jump" infantry fire like normal infantry.

I'm actually not to concerned about the fact that the weapon is heavy. There will be many circumstances that will arise where the gun will be a viable choice for only 15 points. I see it more as a late game tool and as a cheap way to maintain would alocation. Besides most of the time your only buying one per unit.... You might spend 30 points in total in a list on it. Not really a huge loss for what you get. Plus if you do get it off even one kill with it per game you can bet that you would of made your money back. Also late game your independent characters can join them to help take out that last standing enemy death star unit with the aid of relentless!

    Can destroyer lords have phaeron?
