Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, I guess I'm going to have to be the first to say it, judging from the topics of discussion, and I don't care if I don't win any popularity contests for saying it either. The new Necron codex is a piece of human excrement. I honestly can't believe that no one is talking about the blatant disrespect the new book is to the Necrons classic mythos and image. All anyone is talking about is rules, rules, rules, and for that, I say shame on you LO.
I don't even know where to begin. The new Image and storyline especially bears almost no resembelance to the the old book. It's painfully clear that it's just Tomb Kings in space now, and just thinking about that brings my piss to a boil. The C'Tan, wich used to be an integral part of the story line, are now playing second banana to "the silent king" and all the other weak and unimaginative characters GW half baked. No longer are the Necrons a sinister and unreasonable alien race united and bent solely on the systematic extermination of all other life. Now it seems, they'd rather play patty-cake with the blood angels, bicker and squabble amongst each other like kids over who has the best "Dynasty", and worst of all, try to return to their "foooooooormeeeer gloooooooryyyy!". Former glory!? The last I checked the Necrontyr were a miserably grim people who lived tragically short bitter lives. Who the *#!* would want to return to that!? Now the poor destroyers are considered insane for doing what Necrons are supposed to do. It's as if Matt *!#$@*! Ward, just took the classic concept, threw it to the ground, and had his way with it.
Oh, and the Necrons talk now, alot. And emote too. Great! Trazyn, and Imotek behave like Power Ranger villains, making sarcastic quips at one another and "laughing" cheesily. I can't count how many times I face palmed reading the garbage GW is trying to pass off as canon. At one point in the WD, Trazyn actually has his foe in his grasp and doesn't kill him. He DOESN'T kill him! Some "phaeron" he is. Wich reminds me, "Phaeron"!? You've got to be kidding me? I'ts just a combination of Pharaoh and Necron, how lame! Am I the only one reading this crap?
And don't get me started on the new image. The lych guard must have been necrontyr beauty pageant winners in their past lives, judging by their affinity for princess tiaras. Thinking about the praetorians being jump infantry conjures up a most laughable image of air borne boogey men. The command barge is quite arguably one of the dumbest and ugliest models and concepts in GW history, the necrons look so pathetic stooped over their consoles like borg rejects from a Star Trekk-con. And why are they "piloting" that stupid thing anyway?. If the Necrons are so much more advanced this time around, then at least that ridiculous "chariot" should be unmanned like the vehichles of yesteryear, seems like a step backward to suddenly need pilots dontchathinkl? Same goes for the ghost/doomsday ark with the Necron pope at the back making horribly cliche'd gestures. And the cryptek looks like such an unbelievably weak tomb kings knock off that he doesn't even get a full nerd rage. I mean, I know that beauty or lack thereof is all opinion, but, no. There is no way that anyone else thinks the command barge looks cool. People who buy it are no better than hot young gold diggers mooching off of rich geriatrics for inheritance money. Your doing it for the power and you know it. Hell, since rules seem to be all that anyone is concerned with, I'm creating a new unit. Its called the "Iron rod of self fornication", its a Toughness 8, 7 attack, skimmer,trample,rending,+3, and the model is just a big meaty chud in a blister because,Hey, so long as the rules give you an edge, who cares if the unit/model doesn't jive with the army. I can go on and on.
The new Necron army is a Debacle, and I cant wrap my head around how people are buying this crap. The first thing I'm going to do after selling my crons is write GW a complaint about how this entire thing went down, from the shifty way nothing was announced 'til last minute, to the sub standard final product. I say good day to you indeed.

or are you gonna bite? "
im sorry we can't all be as pessimistic as you. maybe we are all talking about rules and not bitching about the new codex because we just want to enjoy it for what it is and make the most of it
Or we're simply not so invested in the fluff that it becomes the center of whether we like the Codex or not. Honestly, I didn't mind the fluff anymore than the old fluff (or any fluff from any book for that matter). So, I take the fluff as is and look at the rules... and I like what I see there.
Perhaps if you're so invested in 40k fluff and releases, you might want to take a step back and breathe? There are far more important things in life than the behavior and culture of fictional robots.
I know what mr blonde can go do with his "iron rod of self fornication"
LMAO NEEEERRRRDDD RRRRAAAAGGGEEEE!!!
Dude seriously, you need to quit playing 40k or playing anything that involves interaction with any other human being. You can't handle it.
The only thing more pathetic than some nerd writing a rant on a computer in his room about a plastic toy army is one who actually thinks he has a point to make by doing so.
Oh just fyi, GW doesn't give a damn what you think so spare yourself the agony of trying to write them a complaint letter. Why does every person on the internets think anyone gives a damn about whatever complaint they have?
One last point of advice: you might want to pull that Iron Rod of Self Fornication out of your ***, you might be able to relax a little and enjoy life a bit more.

I actually have to agree with Mr. Blonde on this one, they butchered the fluff of the Necrons.
Whenever a new codex comes out they change the fluff to some extent, my Dark Eldar got a pretty big revamp especially in the history of Commorogh and rise of Vect but I can deal wit that. Why? The Dark Eldar themselves are pretty much unchanged, they are still the same ruthless, cold, high class villains that enslave all others to do their work for them and enjoy causing pain whenever possible.
The Necrons, they are a completely new race, and all these new units, where were they when the Necrons first awoke? The units that stayed have all undergone huge changes. The monolith was destroyed by the first dark lance I fired at it in my game against the new crons on saturday, destroyers are now half as fast as they used to be, and most durable basic infantry in the galaxy now cruble to heavy bolters.
I had on numerous occasions considered starting necrons, but the terrible rules and legions of expensive metal models made me hold off, now I dont even come close to wanting a necron army.
@ LordChaeronand Roubute Guilliman
he's just ranting because GW has changed the fluff of his beloved army, lets not try to all yell at him over the internet. People love to rant on the web, you arent forced to read it and you can always choose not to comment if you are just going to direct hate at him personally.

IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
I have no problem with anyone disliking an army for any reason, although to be honest, to no longer like an army because they changed your fluff seems ridiculous to me. If you no longer like the army because of how it now plays or the look of the models, fine. Hate it because you're no longer serving ancient Star Gods and aren't as evil as you used to be, is just plain silly.
I liked the previous fluff, just as I like the current fluff. If anything, I have a reason to convert and personalize the army than before.
As far as directing hate, when you start screaming "Shame on you!" for discussing the codex and it's rules, comes with the territory. You don't like it, fine. Keep it to yourself.
I would have to agree with Mr. Blonde and Vanrooyen. The fluff makes the game what it is, I think everyone would have a similar reaction if their favorite army went in a completely different direction with a new book. I have not read the new codex yet, but I have the old one and am not liking what I have heard about the new dex either. I play Space Wolves and love how independent they are to the codex chapters and how they do what they want, if their new codex had them all of a sudden change to a codex chapter I would be mad too. Sure its not the best way to let out tension but hey, its the faceless internet. He is obviously, like myself, some one that plays the game and a certain army because of the fluff and back ground not just because of shiny new models and rules to beat the pants off other players.
Repainting Orks not sure how many points yet
Warriors of Chaos shelved until further notice
I don't understand how I'm a nerd for playing with plastic robots but none of you are. Like I said with the Cryptek, I'm quite self aware of my nerd rage, the difference is I can take a joke. Just help me with your logic here again. I'm a nerd for posting my rant here, but none of you are for responding with your own nerd rage?
My investment in this hobby is considerable, this game is not cheap, it costs money and even more precious, time, to assemble paint and play, thus, hell yeah, I get miffed when someone takes a dump on my investments. Thats the point I have to make. And as for Matt Ward, I mean Roboute Gulliman, I'll do whatever you say with the Iron Rod as soon as you and Andy Hall, I mean, Lord Chaeronand give it back. I said you guys could borrow it, not keep it.
My complaint wont hinge on wether or not GW gives a damn, it will be purely for principal. Complainig just makes it feel good. I know it's futile, like, say, trying to hurt me by posting a knee-jerk reaction to my thread. It's okay to be upset, so long as were clear that I'm not the only one who needs to relax a little and enjoy life a bit more.
